Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Trainer criticisms aside, I have noticed immediately that the skin on my face seems more "plump" and youthful already after just a couple days of this 3-litre per day regimen. Could be a placebo effect, but maybe not. I wasn't looking for skin changes ahead of time.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Wow. I didn't expect the water thing to raise so much ire. Honestly, that's very surprising.

She recommended I drink 3 litres a day -- a lot of that being based on my current level of physical activity and the amount of coffee I drink.

For the record... my pee typically has been yellow.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

I hired a nutritionist/trainer and had my first Zoom meeting with her a couple days ago. I told her that I was fairly well versed in fitness concepts and overall was fairly competent in the area. She showed me how wrong I was. "So you're pretty good with fitness, hey? How much water do you drin...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

A little over a week ago I decided to, as much as possible, never experience the same thing twice. I want to broaden my experience as much as possible. Everything from not ordering the same drinks I usually order, to not listening to the same podcasts, to not cooking the same stuff, to always watchi...

Re: Winkelvoss Capital says Bitcoin is a 10x better inflation hedge than gold

Gold's weakness was/is that its physical. It made it easy to take during war, it benefited from physical centralization and paper issuance, it could be found hidden in your house during 6102, taken at a country border. Bitcoin can literally be stored in your head (using 24 memorized words, although...

Finally watched Bird Box. Excellent film, and a great use of psychological horror instead of actual monsters/demons/ghosts etc.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Finally pulled the trigger on minoxidil as I found a cheap source for it here in Canada. This along with my dutasteride regimen and I should be good for life I figure. The window to restore or maintain hair follicles really starts to close after just a couple years of noticing hair loss from what I ...

Re: What are your special skills/interests?

-Stoicism I couldn't think of any except for my programming skills which have surely vanished by now and good riddance. But if stoicism can be considered a skill I might qualify. Also cynicism which I'm very good at. Didn't come from studying Greek philosophers however. Like programming, I'm mostly...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Still no contact with Kerry. Super proud of myself. I also started going to the gym again! A little setback: my brain, trying to sabotage me as usual, has been giving me dreams about her the past few nights. Grrrrr. Been waking up feeling kind of melancholy in the mornings. I am doubling down on the...

Oddly specific. Is this personal experience?

Prudently Combining Factors In A Portfolio

Brief post on a niche topic here. I have often remarked on the forum that separate exposure to factors such as momentum and value in a portfolio can be self-defeating. Pure value funds tend to load negatively on momentum, and pure momentum funds tend to load negatively on value. A value fund is ofte...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Smithers, here's my most recent morning go-to: 1 scoop whey (ON double chocolate) 1 heaping spoon of instant coffee (Aldi) 1 Splenda 1 TBL cream Heat up the water maybe half as long as you usually would for a piping hot mug of coffee, or else the whey will clot up and be gross. This will be a lukew...
