Re: Global Permanet Portfolio
Perhaps it is better to simply get a passive global index fund. That way it can re-balance itself each year if one region or the other grows in a higher rate than another.

Re: Has anyone here ever sold silver bullion for a profit?
Spread in Sweden is about 5% and then there is the postage fees which is rather large for an insured shipment. Also if someone in the wrong circles finds out that you got a stash. You can expect a burglary whether or not you have it in your home or not.

Re: Has anyone here ever sold silver bullion for a profit?
I do not like the physical assets, too many fees, too much spread, cumbersome and risky to store. I had a couple of bullions for a while but decided to liquidate in favor of IAU ETF instead.

Re: Bonds in Sweden
I could either use TLT(green), or a Mutual fund with an investment profile of 10 year bonds of the Swedish state, municipalities, mortgages and very credit worthy corporations(yellow). 10 years is pretty much the longest duration you can get in the Swedish bond market. Which one would be preferable?...

Re: Where is the money going?
No, you clearly say it yourself. The money doesn't disappear.
The money was given to someone else when you bought your stock or house or whatever, it was never destroyed. Then when you sell, you receive someone else's money.
Paying off credit is the only way currency can be destroyed.

Re: No one can know anything
That said, I do not know if it a good idea to enter the stock market at this moment. I am speculating that we will have a crash in the magnitudes of the great depression as this debt and QE bubble bursts open now in 2016.

Re: Global Permanet Portfolio
I want to rebalance the equities myself so I am buying the region which is on sale at that buying moment.AdamA wrote: You may have mentioned this elsewhere already, but why not just use VT for your stock holding?
I also do not want the composition to be skewed dependent on the current market-size.

Re: Global Permanet Portfolio
I found no other long term bonds other than US bonds available at my broker of choice so, I simply bought TLT in the end, for equities I have used 1/3 of my equity part of the portfolio so far to buy the Swedish Index, don't know if I ought to diversify into Asia and US for the other parts or I simp...

Global Permanet Portfolio
So, I realized, not living in the USA and Sweden lacking in investment products to make a completely Swedish Permanent Portfolio. The best thing I could probably do is to diversify my Permanent Portfolio globally. After all, we are living in a global economy today anyway. Anyone who has any recommen...

Re: No one can know anything
lord probably had to pay a lot for that lesson. Unfortunately, I think it's a lesson that a lot of people have to learn for themselves rather than taking someone else's word for it. Well, he said he sold stocks "at the top." Correct me if I'm wrong on that, Lord. I did not go back and che...

Re: Bonds in Sweden
I have been thinking how to solve the long term bond situation in Sweden. Bonds are intended for deflationary periods as they have relative high rates compared to bills and they do so for a long period. Hence in times of deflation, the bonds dividends will become worth more and more and the demand f...

Bonds vs Deflation
Harry Browne put forth in his theory that long term bonds will be highly sought after in times of deflation. With the current meager rates, can bonds still work as a hedge against deflation or have the instrument become kaput?

No one can know anything
After my adventures in trading land I have concluded that no one can know anything. Harry Browne was right, the meager returns from investing in the markets are not for getting rich, you get rich by providing value to other people through business ventures and careers. The markets can at most give a...

An adaptive permanent portfolio
I have been reading a little bit about an adaptive permanent portfolio from a former hedge fund manager. http://www.tradevenue.se/SpreZZaturian/how-build-professional-investment-portfolio A more adaptive model, that I strongly advocate, increases the stock weights by 15%-points for every consecutive...

I wholeheartedly agree, 2015 was a rough time to be an investor. Cool, that I get to experience hardship so early in my investment-career. Best timing ever!

Re: Momentum Butterfly portfolio
I am really uncomfortable holding gold and long bonds in another currency. As far as I know gold is gold, doesn't matter what currency the etf uses. The returns are the same when converted to your own currency. Holding IAU doesn't expose you to any currency risk. I agree with the others, stick with...

Re: Momentum Butterfly portfolio
You are using 3 - 8 period moving averages? What are your periods, days? If you're doing that kind of short-term trading, it is going to end in more tears. You'll come back here begging to get into a lazy portfolio, but then you will refuse it. I am not very excited about these. I use every mutual ...

Re: Momentum Butterfly portfolio
Admittedly, we are probably looking at a different investment universe. The Japanese index fund is at +5,29% over the last 12 month. The New Technology Sector fund is +33,27% over the last 12 month. Just make sure your performance figures are current, not back-dated to 31/122015. Nothing on my scre...

Re: Momentum Butterfly portfolio
I think this is a terribly bad idea. #1 is I don't do single countries or single regions, except for my own (USA). Anything outside of my country I was diversified as widely as possible. #2 is high-yields are getting murdered. #3 is I don't know about high technology as a sector, but the larger que...
