Re: New PPer needs guidance.

It has been pretty good. But was that because of the colossal run up in treasuries and gold in the past 30 or 40 years? Is that over now? Past performance is no.............. The stock market has trounced both gold and treasuries over the last 30 or 40 years.  Does that mean that we should be even ...

Re: New PPer needs guidance.

Would wait a bit or go slow. My EU PP has not ever been positive since i started, despite me putting more and more cash in it when it dropped, got 100K in now but am going to pause now for a bit untill something positive happens. Down a bit more than 5% atm, which was worse but i bought more as it d...

Re: Forum Crash...

Sometimes the site exhausts the entry processes available (50 out of 50). Oh wow, yes that is obviously the reason where things go wrong. Really, it should never happen again if you get a proper vps and stay away from standard shared webhosting with crazy restrictions. If you know how to setup and ...

Re: Forum Crash...

Donations are really really really not needed. This forum can run profitable extremely easy with some adsense on it and using a good unmanaged vps setup properly, get something from Digitalocean for example, their stuff just works (fast) and is cheap. ps: picking bluehost will likely cause this whol...

Re: Forum Crash...

Hey Craig - just a quick note to thank you for keeping the forum going. I don't know how long it will be worth your while to keep doing so, but I've really appreciated the high quality of thought that permeates every post on this forum.  I'm not sure what you've done to be able to attract such seri...

You keep asking the same question, the answer is still that nobody knows, and nobody will ever know, it can be very bad, and very good.

Re: No where to hide

It's quite funny and sad to see how everybody is scared to hold gold.. It is by F A R the safest asset if you compare it to the other 3. (obviously not in paper form) stocks can and do go to zero bonds can and do go to zero cash can and always goes to zero (it has never NOT gone to zero) Honestly no...

Nobody should be that stupid to believe ANYTHING could ever rise forever.
What happens when they falter?
Then the portfolio wont do very well. Obiously..?

Re: No where to hide

I think a lot of people need to get it into their head that the PP is not the holy grail, and that it can also crash drastically, you can lose 50% of your investment, it's not very likely, but it can surely happen. It's also very likely that 90% of other types of portfolios would be crushed even har...

Reub wrote: What will happen to the PP when treasuries and gold enter 40 year bear markets?
How can we know? All depends what happens to equities, it's unlikely to be good obviously.

Or has this already begun?
How can we know? If i would i would be short right now with maximum leverage.

Re: No where to hide

What is the purpose of investing in non-correlated assets when they decline in unison? Not only have I given up outsized equity returns, but the investments that are supposed to buoy stock declines are having even a larger impact on recent losses. This is the source of my frustration. It feels like...

Re: PP for European Investors (once again)

The problem is that DBXG contains Spanish, Italian and other of-lesser-quality bonds. that is not a problem! Europe is stronger now. No country will default. They don't let it fall. EUPP is GOOD I think you are missing a sarcasm smiley here...? and: No country will default. They don't let it fall. ...
