Poll for Trump Supporters Only

Note that this poll should only be taken by people who plan to vote for Trump in November. Scott Adams took a similar poll among his followers recently, and I think he said a large percentage of them (something like 40%) said they had lied at least once about supporting Trump -- presumably to avoid ...

Re: Johnny Depp left broke after losing $650m movie fortune

At first I was confused as to why you were linking a picture to some random guy in this thread. Then I was like "holy shit". Yup, it's Depp! I thought the arm tats would give it away, but I probably should have been a bit more obvious. The sad thing about that photo is that it was taken b...

Re: Dr. Fauci today!

Personally I don't know who to believe any longer. Maybe Fauci is right. Maybe he is wrong and lying, or wrong and not lying but just very cautious. Although to be so cautious on health, when there is countervailing evidence say from the cruise ship situation, and not to look at the entire situatio...

For what it’s worth, I personally know a few teachers, and all of them put in many more hours (including during summer “vacation”) than what they officially get paid for. One of them used to be a nurse, and she told me nursing was less stressful. It sounds like hard work — at least for the teachers ...

The Knuckleheads are anti-LTT as well? Huh. What’s their main reason — because a diversified total bond market fund is supposedly safer, or because Treasury bonds tend to have the lowest yield?

Could there be a way of de-activating this "feature"? That would probably require an admin modification by Xan. The workaround I use is to always click "Preview" before "Submit". That way the new-post warning (if any) shows up on the preview screen and doesn't interfer...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

You know how the media and Emperor Newsom have been saying that California's Lockdown 2.0 is a response to the state "reopening too soon"? I.e., California supposedly screwed up by reopening too soon, and there's been a big spike in cases as a result? Well, I decided to look at the "T...

What a disappointment. Easily [Schiff's] worst interview on JRE. Don't get me wrong, he had great insights as always. He just never bloody took a breath. He just kept going and going and kept bulldozing Rogan every time he wanted to ask a question or change the pace of conversation. It wasn't a pod...

The stuff that drives me crazy is that I have to put on a mask to go into a restaurant and then walk 20 feet to my table, Then I can take it off. I would love for an expert to calculate for me the chances of catching or spreading a virus in that 20 foot walk. Especially when the restaurant is runni...

I assume the "aggressiveness and extroversion" refers mainly to the people at or near the top of organizational hierarchies (executives, chiefs, etc.). Even then, I think assertiveness would be a more accurate term than aggressiveness.

I actually agree that their list of “white” qualities are indeed commonly observed in white cultures throughout history.

Now, to even better educate ourselves, shall we examine a similar list of qualities commonly observed in black cultures throughout history?

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

The federal Cares Act $600/week unemployment benefit expires later this month, so there's that.

I suspect a lot of the people who have been receiving that benefit will start reconsidering their position on lockdowns when that extra dough stops rolling in.

Re: Styx proves that Trump really is a Boy Scout

I’ve thought about this occasionally over the past few years. How many people in the world, whether famous or not, could survive the level of constant, 24/7 scrutiny and all-guns-blazing attacks by the establishment on multiple fronts simultaneously as Trump has apparently managed to do? How many of...

Regarding the risk of sending children back to school in-person, the evidence strongly suggests it's minimal. This study found that children under 16 years old account for < 2% of COVID cases , with "no documentation of child-to-child or child-to-adult transmission": https://pediatrics.aa...

I am, for about the next 2 weeks, ok with letting the media have its day with the breaking news, and surge in cases, yada yada. If those don't translate into a material increase in deaths, then I will call bullshit. One thing to keep in mind when you look at death stats is that around 1/3 of the ex...

That list is useful, but it's based on broad averages. The total tax bill could potentially look very different for each state depending on a person's income and the size of home/property they choose to own.

My understanding is that housing prices have been rising for years in places all over the world, not just in Texas or even just the US.
