I don't understand how Russia's supply logistics in eastern Ukraine are so precarious. It's on the border with Russia! Explain please.

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

I don't see Putin giving up without first bombing Ukraine infrastructure into the ground. Energy, water and sewer, bridges, those sorts of things. There is so much more that he can do to make Ukraine unlivable. The problem would be selling that outcome to the Russian people. We hear that they suppor...

Re: Anybody got Beef with the Dispatch, Jonah Goldberg, David French etc.

Here’s a 2015 commentary on it. It’s gotten worse since then https://www.illinoispolicy.org/hey-speaker-madigan-illinois-no-1-budget-problem-is-taxpayers-fleeing-the-state/ Illinois’ political leadership has given the state the following: The worst post-recession employment recovery in the U.S. The ...

Re: Anybody got Beef with the Dispatch, Jonah Goldberg, David French etc.

That logic is like: I'm shot in the leg and bleeding, but I shouldn't complain bc the guy lying on the ground next to me is shot in the stomach and probably going to die a long painful death. And the striking is another reason to hate unions. Regular folks just get another job with a different empl...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Djokovic (not sick and with acquired immunity) wasn't allowed to play US open. Masks still required on public transport. SARS1 coronavirus 2004, H1N1 pandemic 2009, MERS coronavirus 2012, SARS2 2020. So we should expect another outbreak in just a few years, and the Democrat position is that there w...

Re: Anybody got Beef with the Dispatch, Jonah Goldberg, David French etc.

Illinois public sector unions are part of the Illinois Democrat power structure. Big time. The private sector trade unions in the big cities are too, but they are more constrained by market economics than are the public ones. The stories of the costs to exhibitors at conventions in Chicago are legen...

2. Unions becoming less and less powerful and less people being represented by them as--from the mid 70s onward--the government and NLRB turned more and more of a blind eye to union busting tactics by companies. You should move to IL. You would love it here. The unions pretty much run everything he...

Re: Anybody got Beef with the Dispatch, Jonah Goldberg, David French etc.

This is the basis for the feelings for Trump, and the newfound disdain for the old GOP people. They haven't been sold a bill of goods. They have been told that it's okay to remember how much better their lives and the direction of the country were and that things are going wrong now. That's an exis...

I have the feeling that they are rushing this vax update through the process, again. I don't care what anyone says, the first vax was a fail. It underperformed bigly, and there have been more side effects than everyone hoped. Rushing this update is not giving me confidence. I wish I could remember ...

We live in a 55+ community. Most are 70+, haha. Quite a few people have gotten it this summer, mostly from traveling. The acute symptoms were not bad. Some of them have had lingering issues with fatigue. Most, if not virtually all, of these people are vaxxed.

I'm typing this on a new Mac Mini. It's nice, but I failed to get my prior Windows laptop to connect and transfer files. I couldn't use the new computer setup routine that is a one time deal because I used that to transfer my Macbook to the Mini. Now I'm dreading trying to figure out how to get my W...

Re: Private real estate funds

They do exist. The structure usually allows for the promoters to get out fairly unharmed in the event things go awry. And that's okay as long as you understand the deal. The promoters are the brains and the connections, and you are the investor/speculator.

.... A little background about me. I'm from a very conservative, church going family in the Bible belt. Grew up in church, I read my Bible daily, etc, as do many if not most members of my family. 2000 was the first presidential election I was eligible to vote in. I was told in 2000 that if Bush did...

Mark me down as one who enjoyed the discussions (in all folders) more when the group consisted mainly of those who used the PP or something fairly close to it. Now it seems like those still here who do could meet in a restaurant booth. Not to say I'm against reading some dissonant thoughts, but the ...
