Re: Bitcoin investors are running from the crypto to invest in gold

Another question....would bitcoin be considered a good long term SOV since inception if we only looked at its yearly lows instead of highs?

Yearly Lows:
2012 -$4
2013 - $75
2014 - $200
2015 - $185
2016 - $365
2017 - $780
2018 - $3200
2019 - TBD - Currently $3400

Re: Bitcoin investors are running from the crypto to invest in gold

In the 12 months to bitcoin's peak above $20,000 in December 2017, the cryptocurrency increased in value 25 times over. Over that same stretch, gold rallied 4 percent. More than a year since bitcoin's peak, it's down 82 percent, while gold is up 2.5 percent. Does this mean that during this timefram...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

What problem do I have that crypto is solving. Tax avoidance? technov, you should be supporting it then =) I don’t know your business nor geographic location. But if you live in Venezuela, Cypress, China, Argentina, etc. then capital controls, runaway inflation and asset forfeiture would be problem...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

Bitcoin isn't any kind of money. It is an absurd speculative instrument relying on the "greater fool" theory. But by all means keep HODLing, and to quote a great philosopher: "[Y]ou'll go home in a barrel." I guess it doesn’t really matter what anyone “calls” it or refuses to ca...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

As soon as Bitcoin has 1/10th the track record of gold, I'll consider it. Until then, it's basically like a Beanie Baby... only you can't even see it. Define "track record"?....if thousands of years agreed value / worth is what your implying, well you've admitted you'll never consider it....

Re: Looks like HB was correct about offshore assets

This highlights my biggest concern with Bitcoin's invention.....for all the freedom it provides people, it paved the framework / gave light for a government issued digital currency. (not a cryptocurrency) The ultimate end goal of government would be to monitor every dime spent and tax appropriately....

Re: Another Texas thread

Texas born....still here. Only one of my friends still refers to his dad as "Daddy". We gave him shit over it in our high school / college years. Thinking back on it......I remember my dad telling me I'm "too old to call him Daddy anymore". I would guess around age 10? maybe I do...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

Sorry but gold is more closely related to your pet rock anology than bitcoin....Gold is nothing more than a scarce pet rock. Yet is deserves its place in the PP. Bitcoin is scarce, can be physical or digital, the same coin can theoretically exist in 10 different physical locations (ex. 10 copies of ...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

Maybe the difference in our opinions lies in that Harry thought for himself and drew is own conclusions using critical thinking skills. Like him, I do not “need” an authoritarian figure (Harry even, for example) to approve / disapprove anything before making my decisions. I used his lessons and reas...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

Very Interesting to me how different / opposite our conclusions to Harry’s stance would be on this. The ONLY books I have ever read on investing we’re Harry’s. The first by random chance / timing (garage sale 2009) was “You can profit from a monetary crisis” and maybe 2-3 years later “Fail safe inve...

Re: Harry on Bitcoin

If alive today....yes, no doubt Harry would recommend / hold Bitcoin himself. Harry was a libertarian and huge advocate of sound money and keeping government out his money. Bitcoin does this. That said....I do not believe he would include / divide it equally alongside stocks, bonds and gold in the P...

100 year bond!?

Curious of your thoughts regarding the issuance of 50 or 100 year bonds....."if" issued...would they replace the 30-20 year bond holding portion of the PP?
