Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

@smithers: ok, but how much gym time are you going to miss if you’re horizontal with a temperature and the shivers or, God forbid, in a coma. 🤷‍♂️ Looks like my internal debate is over. The CEO of the gym I was thinking of has also closed its doors. As always, our number one priority remains to be ...

Re: Is Denninger right about the coronavirus?

I've gotta be honest. Even if the author makes good points, the overuse of bold and all caps lessens his credibility. It reads just like any number of fringe doom porn newsletters I've seen over the years (all fear and blame with no real solutions), and frankly I don't think it's helpful right now....

But wait, there's more... THE 15 DAY LIE: DON'T BE STUPID Interesting and, of course, alarming... I am no epidemiologist, and have no idea whether this guy is right or wrong, but interesting nonetheless. All I can think about is how the PP would fair if the 18 month scenario really played out how t...

Re: Powell says no to negative interest rates?

I'm with you guys on this one. A lot of people seem to think that the Fed has unilateral control over interest rates. They don't. They are a large influencing factor, but they don't have unilateral control. Alan Greenspan said as much about his tenure after the financial crisis. People lambasted him...

P.S. Rest easy Smithers. You can go out and get laid. Just wait until September, maybe. Same goes for the gym, restaurants and anything fun. Just because it's open, doesn't mean it's safe. 📣 ↳ https://www.bionews.org.uk/page_148559 I know I probably shouldn't, but I am extremely torn and on the fen...

Re: Sophie, we may have a treatment

That's not a publication, just a claim. The numbers also don't make sense...they list a large number of trials and then said something about "100 patients", which is way too few for the claimed number of studies. Having reviewed a lot of papers from China, I am naturally suspicious so I d...

Just got a little more real here. One of our nurse practitioners is home sick with COVID. If she was contagious last week, my entire division (me included) has been exposed. Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

If we impose a lock down on the country for 18 months and save 2.2 million lives... Are the lives lost due to economic hardship included in that calculation? The suicides from lack of income? What about the general human suffering that would cause? Is torpedoing 1000 peoples' livelihoods worth, say,...

This is a fuzzy request, but can people on the forum with a longer tail of experience than me share their thoughts on this: How does this period feel compared to 2008/2009? Yes, I can see the stock market numbers, I can see some old forum posts, but it's not the same as being there. In 2008/2009 I w...

Yes, based on numbers reported by the trustworthy Chinese government ::) Even if China's cases are indeed winding down, does China really think it can eradicate the virus when most other countries in the world are aiming for herd immunity instead of eradication? I don’t even mind the groupthink, but there are some incredibly nasty people there who bring the whole forum down. You are only the second person I've ever had contact with who has done that. Never knew whether the...
