Re: Making Sense of the Never-Ending, Never-Availing Trump Investigation

The top three countries of origin are Mexico, India and China.
Immigrants are important, but you’re right. I do wish we could be more selective. Friendlier tham Trump, but more discriminating than Merkel.

Re: Making Sense of the Never-Ending, Never-Availing Trump Investigation

It makes me sick when it ends up with the US "liberating" another far-off country, with huge concomitant civilian casualties, when it's really just about making more money for the MIC. We don't have to be the world's policeman. It seems to be a job for which we volunteered. You sound like...

Re: Making Sense of the Never-Ending, Never-Availing Trump Investigation

That Russia tried to influence the US election may have been news for about 30 days after November of 2016. That it remains news today in April of 2018 is because of the yachts for CEOs. I agree, partially. The other half is because Trump is a polarizing figure. He knows how to stay in the news, go...

The new yacht is just a by-product. It's not cool, but Russia's antics are news.

Re: Making Sense of the Never-Ending, Never-Availing Trump Investigation

stuper, WiseOne, I was thinking more about Russia in general, and I'm not saying that their mere hacking or Facebook bot campaign is so evil. Yes we (the U.S. gov't) have done some terrible things. We keep despots in power until they no longer serve our needs. We all know it. But, we are still the b...

Re: Making Sense of the Never-Ending, Never-Availing Trump Investigation

My favorite quote of the week: And the president’s adding to the sort of annals of American presidential rhetoric this week, along with malice toward none and charity toward all, and the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, to a weak and untruthful slimeball is what he’s called James Comey. - ...

Re: Where and how do you purchase physical gold?

I don't have enough cash in taxable space to buy physical gold yet, but I'm planning on buying it from a brick and mortar place for privacy. I imagine I can walk in, buy a coin with cash and walk out without them knowing anything about me, right? I think that's true, at least until an ounce is more...

Re: Where and how do you purchase physical gold?

Just thought I'd pass this along... I put in an order with Kitco on Monday and wired $ the same day. Coins were shipped Tuesday and arrived via UPS on Wednesday even though I didn't pay for expedited shipping. Ten coins at $1,312 each. Insurance was $52.48 & the wire fee was $30. Price above sp...

Thank you, I.L.M. I was talking about this with a former member of this forum. I did google & find one person on reddit who had the same problem, 9 words instead of 12. So, I guess I never lost the 3 words. Seems to be an error on the part of those who issued me the password. In other words, the...

Re: Zeros for cash?

It looks like VSBSX has an expense ratio of .07%. I THINK that more or less offsets any hit you take by buying smaller lots of T-Bills. For example, when I bought some bills at Fidelity recently, the "list price" in their one-year bill area was 2.13%, but when I hit "depth of book&qu...

Re: Zeros for cash?

I'd been buying 1 year bills for years, but I've been switching to VGSH (Vanguard's 1-3 year Treasury ETF) as they mature. I found the yields on bills with an acceptable minimum buy amount is too low to be worth the hassle anymore. I started doing the same thing (VSBSX, the equivalent of VGSH) when...

Grant Becomes a Loan?

Have you heard of this before? Seems crazy to me. thousands of teachers had their grants taken away and converted to loans, sometimes for minor errors in paperwork. That's despite the fact they were meeting the program's teaching requirements. https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2018/03/28/596162853/dep...
