These seem to be the topics which have had the longest lives. Most are still active. It's possible for there to have been big gaps inside of them, though; I didn't check for that. Oh, okay sure. I didn't realize there had been significant nostalgia already discussed here. Moving a bunch of posts from Bond Dream Room to Nostalgia.

Anyone heard from Annie B?
Xan,
Is it worth establishing a nostalgia thread?
Thanks.

I use and recommend Free File Fillable Forms. It's an electronic version of the paper forms. Does all the math for you. It's the official way to file online for free.

I checked what Harry Browne had to say on the subject: Harry was certainly wise in many ways, but he also held some extreme positions that he later walked back. I hope the above is in that category. I don't know how one can say that with a straight face. I don't know from where that quote was taken...

Slightly off-topic, but I highly recommend Michael Lewis's "The Undoing Project". In addition to being fascinating like most/all of his work, reading this I discovered I had no idea what psychologists actually did, or how interesting it is.

I checked what Harry Browne had to say on the subject: Governments invariably call upon their citizens to cooperate in efforts for the "public good." They want you to sacrifice to help solve economic crises, foreign-trade problems, and military conflicts; but these things were caused originally by ...

I observed that the book had 2 reviews on Amazon, one glowingly positive and the other negative. I assume you mean the book Vinny started this thread about, rather than the one Krieg just mentioned? On the general topic, I think it would be strange to go in assuming that men's and women's brains ar...

Here's a horrifying tale of a dentist who sold his practice, and his successor discovered that he'd been doing all manner of nightmarish and unnecessary procedures on all his patients.

Re: a Wealth Tax thread
I just ran across this interesting article from a CPA blogger explaining how Warren's wealth tax would theoretically affect wealthy people, particularly small business owners. It's pretty scary. Of particular note is that the tax would start to kick in on people with a net worth of only $4M which i...

Re: Is Trump doing a good job?
We've had a lot of discussions over the years here about how a balanced budget may not be so good. It seems to cause recessions. The debt of the government is the savings of the private sector. There really isn't a need to "pay back" debt.

Re: Countering medical cost myths
Certainly seems like most here are relatively non-medicated. WiseOne's nightmare scenario above stretches to get in the 20-25 range. Krieg's chart shows 27 as the average for a 70-year-old. Does that mean for every 70-ish person here on no meds, there's one out there on 50? And are there really 30-y...

pug, You call that left wing propaganda. I submit that it is done on both sides, for whatever reasons. It's been climate based scare tactics by the left side for quite a while. They do themselves a huge disservice by putting dates on this stuff. 12 years to go right? Why would anyone do that? You j...
