WiseOne wrote: Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:18 pm Mark are you sure you couldn't buy the Air on the educational store? I'm on it and having no problem ordering the macbook pro (with M1).
Not sure. I just assumed that I would need to provide some educator credentials - which I don't have.

Re: New Macs With M1 Chips

I just went to the Apple (educational store) web site and it let me configure a Macbook Air with 16Gigs of memory and 2TB storage.
Unfortunately, I'll be waiting until it is available to the general public.

Re: Election meaningless unless we change for the better

One of the last bastions for us racist, sexist, classist bigots is the dating scene. My sister (who is as lefty/progressive as they come) will only date rich, tall Danish men. No one ever tells her that she is an awful person for not giving impoverished Asian lesbian midgets a shot. Why is she paint...

Sounds ideal for a home machine. I'm imagining a couple of giant monitors with that. Probably wouldn't fit very well in my pack.
Nice setup, though.

Anyone want to make any predictions about whether Trump pardons himself before end of term...or steps down and has Pence pardon him?...of course that doesn't get him off the hook for state charges....which he might be getting hit with here shortly. I'm seriously looking at the Air right now. I like the "no fan" even though it may mean that I might be thermally throttled at times.

Load it up with memory and disk storage...

I got clipped in my late 20's. After two step-kids and one of my own. The doctor didn't want to do it, as I was too young. I had to talk to him rationally for about half an hour before he agreed. Same thing with an ex I had. She was in college and knew she never wanted kids. She was going in for a p...

The issue with sterilization is I can see a lot of smart young people hard up for money when young might make a decision they could end up regretting. Perhaps iuds up to age 30 at which point sterilization becomes possible. It would be a mess at first, but then it would sort itself out. The smart y...

My approach would be to get rid of public assistance programs entirely. And then, if you had no one in your life that was willing and able to assist you. Then, you’re in a bad spot. And, if no one you know personally cares enough about you to help you live, then I probably don’t also. So please don’...

I generally upgrade every other year. My mac one year and then my phone the next year.

But this year, I need the new phone for work (ToF) 3D sensor. And I *really* want the new MacAir. The Windows emulation speed clinches it.
