Re: Sound and fury
I've asked this question before but have never received an answer: If this forum is so objectionable or useless to the non-libertarian members of this forum, why do those people keep coming back here? If the philosophical orientation and dominant viewpoint expressed here is so reprehensible as to a...

Re: Libertarians of Reddit
Yes, our government has been co-opted by big money and their lobbyists. My solution is to take measures to reduce big money's influence on government. Your solution is to eliminate government. I think my position is more moderate and yours is quite radical and at this particular point not realistic...

Done with politics and pretty much everything else
I'm focusing on things I can and must do something about.
That's a long list, so I likely won't be hanging around here until and unless I finish up with my list.
I wish you all the best of luck, even the trolls.
Goodbye.

Re: Texas sues to have the state legislatures appoint the electors
I'm hoping the court at least agrees to take it up. With almost all of the states having thrown their hats into the ring for one side or the other, it seems like exactly the kind of dispute that the Supreme Court was setup to resolve. If they take it, I think the ruling will be along the lines of, ...

It's just a bit too short. The second sentence is "And we provide the blindfold."I Shrugged wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 11:56 am Democracy dies in darkness, says WaPo.
That might be the most Orwellian statement so far.

It's obvious that Texas has the right of it. The only question is whether the Court is compromised to such an extent that they can ignore the plain language of the Constitution.Mark Leavy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 3:45 pm The States have filed their responses.

Thanks for the link, Xan! No I didn't know about the Falun Gong link. I'm quite sympathetic to that group....they are a bit cult-like but it's not unlike many small US churches that operate freely and openly here, and they have been most vocal about China's human rights abuses. And one of the latest entities to join is... the Pennsylvania legislature! Yes, that's right: the PA legislature is suing its own state. I'm just curious what the libertarians do when someone flaunts the law. Is the punishment that you just tell the offender they are a mean nasty person and no one will want to be their friend? If one of us then decides to "unsign" that agreement for some reason, that person would still be obligated to submit to arbitration for that contract. ..or what? Who wields the stick? I mean if all laws are social contracts in essence and I choose not to abide by them what are the repercu...

How to monetize honesty
Here's one way to make it much more profitable to be honest. I suggest a registry where people of good faith can affirm their willingness to submit any disputes to arbitration, so long as the other party in the dispute has also signed that declaration. There's a very simple document for that purpose...
