Re: Online Security
This forum is extremely revealing in the financial sense. I can tell you from experience that it can rub people the wrong way when they know you're well off. I have a colleague who asked what I earned, and I told him. Even though it was less than him , he was jealous for weeks. Because, so he reason...

Re: [EU] Value of short-term bonds as "cash"
I've got a EU PP, and my cash is NOT in a money market fund. As long as my portfolio is small enough to keep it cash in regular savings accounts, I'll do so.

Do whatever makes you sleep better at night.
You have ten years on me. But I, for one, didn't want to be one of those people who develop ulcers during the next bear market.

Since Tyler is such a modest person and doesn't plaster his site with ads, I'll be the one to mention you can buy him a cup of coffee here:

Re: 2019 Permanent Portfolio Results
My PP is the normal stuff except it's divided between gold, 7-10 yr. European bonds, world stocks, and the cash is on a 0.5% interest savings account (because we've got a negative rate money market here in Europe, Mario Draghi be damned). I'm still overweight on cash, which will be remedied in the n...

sorry i did this to you all lol So Don gives us a holiday present and you decided with one fool action to take it all away, huh? :D As for gold's time to shine, I've understood that gold right now is historically already above average, due to several central banks slowly building up their gold rese...

I wonder how they justify that expense ratio. Or is it just milking their remaining client base for all they're worth?

Not strictly PP, I've got 25% global stocks instead of the recommended 25% national stocks. Also, I've got a small VP with crypto and P2P lending, sized to about 4% of my PP.

I checked what Harry Browne had to say on the subject: Governments invariably call upon their citizens to cooperate in efforts for the "public good." They want you to sacrifice to help solve economic crises, foreign-trade problems, and military conflicts; but these things were caused origi...

Re: MCD
Is it just a misconception on my part....or, is the European way sometimes more enlightened than the American way? Well.... it's great that it's sold here, of course. But it doesn't really taste like meat. It's really a patty that's made from some form of mushroom or something. It tastes very neutr...

Salads and Egg McMuffin were mentioned but here in Europe, we have some options:

Re: MCD
I frequently stopped in McDonald's to buy certain non-meat products What I find super-duper great while traveling, is that I can depend on McDonald's for three things: there is a vegetarian option, decent coffee, as well as a playground for my kid. As for the stock, I think it's better to have the ...

Re: What us your current portfolio?
Could you reveal how you invested each of the four segments (i.e., bought long term bonds or bought long-term bond fund, gold fund versus buying actual gold, and so on)? I'm in Europe, where we have to deal with negative interest rates and a rather lackluster economy. So I've got 25% gold ETF, 25% ...

Re: What us your current portfolio?
I've only been using the PP since 2016, and already have had severe doubts about the PP... However I haven't actually changed anything, except maybe added a VP (Variable Portfolio) for about 5% of my total invested capital.

Re: Question about PP vs 100% cash
It seems to me that there's a limit to the "yield", namely it's bounded by what you consume. On the other hand, the PP its yield is limited to what you have in your investment account. So it probably works in the sub-100K dollar/euro range. Then the PP starts to win. Edit: just read the fi...

Never actually read HB's book, just Craig & Lawson's book. And like OP, re-read it again.
