I just realized something. Under my name and avatar my join time on the forum is specified as "Fri Apr 21, 2017 4:01 pm."
Which definitely means I joined the forum when I was at work. My join time will forever be a testament to my laziness.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
The Vancouver Bullion and Currency Exchange's Burnaby location was totally sold out of everything except for 10 ounce silver bars. Today I managed to catch a break at the downtown branch and added a bit to my physical holdings with a MapleGram and two 1 ounce silvers.

Re: Another angle on the recent events in America and the world
insurgency by an armed citizenry can work, think guerilla warfare, not only is it effective but at a speed that would make your head spin arms dealers will be selling them equipment to match force... I seriously doubt it would come to that though, because as others have pointed out, the American mi...

Re: Another angle on the recent events in America and the world
When I say that owning a gun is not so much about burglars etc., I don't mean to say it's not an effective deterrent. What I was implying was that the principle of gun ownership and the second amendment is first and foremost about the public's relationship to government. It is, as a principle, so d...

Re: Another angle on the recent events in America and the world
Owning a gun has scant relevance to defending yourself against terrorists, burglars, or flying saucers. It’s about defending yourself against a police state that does not care for your well-being or your liberties. Of course I agree with your comments about the police state. But you're wrong about ...

Strong agree here. Mobbing private businesses and the homes of ordinary citizens is nowhere close to what you might call the intelligent aggression I was alluding to earlier.

First off I would like to thank Smith for starting this interesting topic and the forum members for intelligent discussion. A couple of questions/thoughts.... In the US, did peaceful demonstrations or violent riots ever change anything? I always remember General Haigs quote back in the 80's Could a...

Re: Another angle on the recent events in America and the world
Unpopular opinion incoming: Sometimes violence is the answer. I don't necessarily mean in the context of the riots/protests happening now. I'm not necessarily saying any of that is justified. But speaking in a broader context. I've been hearing lots of voices about how every protest, every movement,...

This thread ended up going way better than I thought. As opposed to civil rights leaders and politicians, the person whose opinion I'm really looking forward to hearing is Dave Chappelle. I like his bit where he said, I think every African American should get a permit to carry a firearm. ( Nearly s...

Another angle on the recent events in America and the world
Recently, tighter gun control laws were enacted here in Canada, and that has spurred some off the cuff thoughts on my part regarding the news lately. For those who are proponents of gun control who are outraged at the killing of innocent people like George Floyd at the hands of the police, or the de...

I have a confession. Given my recent ticketing fiasco at the hands of the local police, I get a strange sense of satisfaction seeing everyday citizens fighting the police. I'm awful, I know.

Silver is great if you like hideous volatility.
Have I told you the story about how I bought silver on the day of the top in January 1980?
On margin.
That's a story we've got to hear.

Absolutely not. But not entirely because of the risk of government intervention. Who guarantees the counterparty? Thanks for the reply, Libertarian666. There are two counterparties responsible for delivering the return of the index: CIBC and National Bank of Canada. The law requires that counterpar...
