Re: Peter Schiff Was Right (again)
You can use the same arguments about Obamacare but they rammed it through against the wishes of the insurance industry, big pharma, the AMA etc. Your point about the average person not being able to nurse a 401k nest egg is absolutely true and that's where they will start...with a convincing argumen...

Re: Peter Schiff Was Right (again)
My proposed change for Social Security is that anyone anytime can opt out of the system in exchange for never ever being able to collect, essentially forfeiting all the money they were already taxed. People who had been paying into the system for a few years or more who opted out would basically re...

Re: Is Obamacare setting up doodle's vision of the future?
As a society voters have shown that taxpayer redistribution is wanted (Medicare, Medicaid). The problem we are grappling with now is to how to re-distribute in the most efficient manner. Good luck with all that. I would refer anyone who hasn't to read Browne's book "Why Government Doesn't Work...

Re: Is Obamacare setting up doodle's vision of the future?
I would favor a system where government offers incentives to the private insurance companies based on their performance. What about the crazy idea of letting customers provide incentives by just buying insurance from companies based on their performance? Why do we need the goverment taxing people ...

That depends on who is tracking the record. I posted the clip not because Schiff is a messiah to be followed and adored but simply because he was spot on on this particular issue while all the gurus were mocking him. That's all. In other words, in a roomful of idiots, one is bound to be right about...

Re: Is Obamacare setting up doodle's vision of the future?
I would favor a system where government offers incentives to the private insurance companies based on their performance. Something like the more members an insurance company attracts the more government subsidies they get. No pre-existing condition exclusions allowed but ability to switch insurance...

Re: Is Obamacare setting up doodle's vision of the future?
:) You'll never hear me make the claim that the US is the last bastion of freedom in the world. Honest and sincere questions - I've heard it said many times that Health Care is a basic right because people need it to live. Ok. Don't they need food, water, clothing and shelther much much more than h...

Re: Would Cruz/Palin Be An Unbeatable Ticket?
They are each going after a different constituency. Cruz is after the disgruntled Tea Party types. Paul is courting the quasi-libertarians and is also targeting the under 25 libertarian leaning Democrats. Together they could take over the GOP.

He explains himself as to why in the video and I tend to judge people on results rather than process. So it works for me.Kshartle wrote: Did he just get lucky going against going everyone else's opinion or was he right based on analysis of the FED/government and economy? I think that's an important question.

If you guys continue to willfully ignore the inflationary effect of the Fed's money printing then I wasted my time posting the video. I guess Ray Dalio joins the CBO as being wrong according to your world view. It may help for you all to watch minute 25 onward several times.

Re: How many people agree with MR/MT theory described on the forum
I posted the video because it kind of reconciles what both our "camps" are saying. On the one hand I grudgingly concede about the credit and on the other you must concede about his conclusion - without productivity nothing else matters, see min 28 onward to the end

Have you guy ever thought of going long francs and short euros? Regarless of what they do against the dollar, you can only lose if the franc falls against the euro, which seems extremely unlikely. At some point if they ever decouple we should expect the franc to rise dramtically as the swiss centra...
