Re: kava

I often take it for insomnia. I don't have real anxiety, but I have also taken it in lieu of alcohol as a social lubricant or before a potentially stressful event, and it was good. Wish I could take it daily. Years ago, a friend of mine used to grow it on Tonga and he gave me a huge bag of the powde...

kava

Does anyone take this supplement? I've found it to be a useful way to cut down on beer, because I don't dare to imbibe on days that I take kava. However, while I'm certainly reducing calories by drinking less beer, the impact on my liver might actually be worse. I think that deaths related to the in...

I think I saw that over at bogleheads. It's kind of how my remaining individual stocks are. Light on banks, anyway.

My old roommate used to set snow on fire with gasoline. I believe he now works for a large investment firm. ;-)

I had a nice PM conversation w/ Larry once upon a time. He's not at Bogleheads as often as he used to be, either.

I wonder if there was some profit-taking from those who decided to get out while it's safe. They might have been waiting for this last bounce from Yellen.

Definitely interesting, although that allocation is 40/60 stock / bond (slice & dice; lots corp bond.) https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239765/ishares-moderate-allocation-etf That's a good point. I think it would be fairer to run the pp against Vanguard's Target Retirement 2020 Fund (VTWNX)....

Lol. Thanks, MG. I think my memory is quite beyond the reach of supplements. Waiting for some kind of A.I. help, although I won't be half as charming when I'm a cyborg.

I love seeing Saul dressed up like Matlock.
I dare say I'm enjoying it at least as much as Breaking Bad. Is that blasphemy? Love the characters, esp. Michael McKean's. He's come a long way since Lenny & Squiggy.

A young Paul Newman dressed as Matlock. ;-)

Thank you! Using just SHIFT sounds familiar. It's only been a year. My memory's not great.
Will try tonight!

That's the plan: copy any notes I typed into some weird stripped down text editor and then format anew.

Re: Help me choose a secondary computer

I'm anxious to play w/ Linux again but when most friends or relatives ask me about it, I'm in the it's-not-ready-for-primetime camp. That's not to say that some novices won't do fine with it. But, it helps if someone has a cousin PointedStick in the family for when the printer suddenly stops working...

The drive should be ok even though even though the missus sat on the machine once or twice. It's an SSD and still fast-- at least, last time I used it.

Linux - lost login

Hey, what's the simplest solution to this problem? I have a linux laptop that I almost never use, but I'm finally free enough to play again. I started out with Linux Mint 10 which stopped updating at some point but which kind of worked. Later, I installed Ubuntu and had it set up to dual boot. In Ub...
