Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

In other news, I recently got a nice message on the Facebook dating platform from a woman 23 years my senior. We have a date on Tuesday. I'm equal parts curious, bemused, and actually kind of scared to be going on a date with a woman old enough to legitimately be my mother. We'll see. I am definite...

Re: An outsiders perspective of the politcal turmoil

If the Democrats gets into power, the best outcome is a civil war in which they are completely vanquished. The worst case is tyranny that will make the Soviet Union look pretty good by comparison. I don't want this question to turn into a partisan thing, rather one of just observations or opinions....

Re: Some 2020 General Election Polls

As soon as I wake up each morning I put on C-Span's Washington Journal. As I was listening to this one I thought that I'd missed the beginning. But when I went here I saw that I'd actually heard it all. However, because it was so interesting and because I wanted to pass on some of it here, I listene...

Re: All hail the new People's Republic of... CHAZ?

There's been large fireworks being exploded all over NYC all night, every night, for a couple of weeks now. It's a problem in other cities too apparently. Big problem here. Dog owners (and their dogs) are not happy. I got an ad in my mail for fireworks. I hope the whole warehouse just blows up whil...

Re: Is Trump doing a good job?

The Kung Flu brouhaha is just another example of leftists being so uptight that they can't even laugh at a simple joke. It's just a funny pun. No harm, no foul. But today everything has to be weaponized to score points. Oh well, if leftists can't laugh at anything, they are the ones missing out. Th...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

I'm a bit surprised at Oregon and California. I went to my parent's over the weekend, and where they live I don't recall seeing anyone in a mask. Life was back to normal and it was very pleasant. I haven't experienced that in months because I live in a silly state. Still mandatory in Massachusetts....

Re: Is Trump doing a good job?

I have a friend who seems to read a book a day. Oftentimes he'll send me excerpts from the book as he is reading the book. Sometimes he'll also send comments. He's an Elizabeth Warren liberal. He obtained and started reading the Bolton book today. Here are some of his selected emails to me while rea...

Why is no one watching C-Span, where you can see all the source directly, "unfiltered" and in full?

Re: Is Trump doing a good job?

tech, I watched the video. I agree with you. The press covered it completely wrong and should be held accountable. I also watched the rally last night. Some thoughts: --Trump would probably make a good standup comic. The whole West Point ramp thing was pretty funny. --Trump continues on an us and t...

i ordered the printed version to read ...i much prefer books to the e-version despite the fact i i have to wait to receive it to read it . I have two criteria. If it's just a general read book that I'm going to read once and that it is then I'm ordering a used version on Amazon because it's general...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

The best way to learn golf is to probably start with your pitching wedge and get good with that first. Then move to 9 iron, 8 iron, up to say 5 iron or 4 iron, then fairway woods and finally driver. Starting with the driver is sort of like learning to sail by trying to cross the Pacific on your fir...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

My dad got a hole in one today. I had one of my best 18 holes ever, which is still very bad but... you know. Golf. I ordered golf balls, tees, and a net from Amazon. All arrived two days ago. Set it up. Am I a terrible golfer! Miss the ball entirely! Hit only the tee and it goes flying but the ball...

Upstate would be very nice indeed except for some nanny state stuff, like you can't order your own blood tests I was quite surprised to find out several years ago that this was the case in Massachusetts. I think it even applied to mail order? My only recourse would have been to drive to a state whi...

Very interesting work. And here I thought I was the only one still interested in talking about portfolios and investing instead of politics. I think the interest in politics may be a reflection of the split between U.S. and international forum members. I was going to point out a few days ago that i...

Speaking of masks.... Yesterday I went to a Defund Police rally in the town next to me. I went for a few reasons. One was an opportunity to take pictures of people outdoors. Had not really done that since last October. The other was to listen to what was said. There were a lot less people there than...
