Re: Combining Vol, Economic, Trend, and Momentum Strategies
There is much that can help with diversity. You may want to go checkout the GAA link I posted as there is a lot of diversity in terms of approaches. One caveat and caution, the thing I have really come to appreciate is simplicity. The more moving parts the less assurance that there is any “there” t...

Re: Here is the evidence
Maddy did not refute anything really. He just said we should wait for more evidence before reaching a conclusion... which is something I agree with (especially since I'm honestly just getting tired of arguing). Can the other side agree to this as well? Or are they going to continue to spread their ...

Re: Judge: Republicans Will Likely Win Pennsylvania Election Lawsuit
I read it the same way as you do. Maybe the State of PA violated its own law. But granting the relief requested opens up potentially bigger violations. BTW, this case was already appealed to the PA Supreme Court after the initial ruling on Wednesday. I think all the judge was doing here was elabora...

Re: Judge: Republicans Will Likely Win Pennsylvania Election Lawsuit
Ok so I read the document. Its document granting a stay on certification "pending the results of the evidentiary hearing". So there is nothing at all damning about this. They basically said that since the electoral college doesn't vote until Dec 14, there is no reason to rush, and no harm...

Re: Judge: Republicans Will Likely Win Pennsylvania Election Lawsuit
The judge also made mention that while the plaintiffs have a credible claim that the state may have went around the laws, the courts are aware that any judgment could infringe on the voting rights of the people of PA. So basically, it's a sticky situation. Should the voters be punished and have the...

Re: Combining Vol, Economic, Trend, and Momentum Strategies
On economic signals...I use a combination of various macro data series and an old fashioned monthly moving average. The code for the signal is: IIf(MacroEconSig >= 0, 1, IIf(MacroEconSig < 0 AND C > MA(C,6), 1, -1)); In English: If the MacroEcon signal is >=0 then = 1 If the MacroEcon signal is < 0...

Re: David Rosenberg: Long Treasuries Are Still The Safest Asset Around
Another great post pmward and in one short paragraph you convey more valuable information on Dalio and Bridgewater than pages of stuff I've read on Bogleheads and other forums. Even when you discount the 80-90% of folks who conflate Dalio and Bridgewater with Tony Robbin's "All Seasons" p...

Thank you again Tech for bringing a real credible document to us. Please bring more of this, because I honestly would like to see the real evidence on the other side. Re: Team Trump’s legal arguments veering into paranoid kook-land
I'm curious to see this 60 minutes episode tomorrow with Chris Krebs, the Dept of Homeland Security director that Trump fired for making a public statement that there was no evidence of fraud. According to this article he claims Trumps claims are "farcical". https://www.businessinsider.co...

Re: David Rosenberg: Long Treasuries Are Still The Safest Asset Around
I really appreciate your posts pmward - thanks for sharing your thoughts. I don't disagree at all with the logic, but am in the Bill Bernstein (or even Golden Butterfly) camp in believing that tilting towards prosperity and inflation protection (e.g. with the GB's 5 x 20% allocation) generally make...

Re: The New Republican Populism (personal Trump references not allowed)
The United States has a very good gig going right now, we ought not to screw it up. That sums it up. I went with aliens because the endless imaginary scenarios you would no doubt come up with have to lead somewhere, might as well skip to the end. It's only slightly less plausible than Russia sailin...

Hah. Pmward, you get off ignore. I assume tech won’t see this, but below is another comment from a different site. My question again to Trump supporters, assuming Jan 20 Biden is sworn in, will you let it go or take it to your grave? ——— From what I've read on ZH and other places, the central issue...

I don't know how to get through to you. Courts sometimes speculate as to what the evidence may, or may not, show before they even hear it. From both a legal and practical standpoint, such commentary is meaningless except insofar as it relates to the narrow procedural issue then before the court. An...

Very interesting and thanks for answering so quickly, pmward. I know you are a big Ray Dalio fan and one of the things that I find curious in his "bonds are a terrible investment at the moment" position (I'm paraphrasing) is that I haven't heard him say anything about 20-30 year treasurie...

Re: David Rosenberg: Long Treasuries Are Still The Safest Asset Around
So basically, I still think for buy and hold bonds the barbell is more "safe" going forward than 100% cash. And just imagine what happens to gold on a year where the short end is 0%, the long end is say 3%, and inflation registers 10%+. Stocks would also perform much better in this environ...

Re: David Rosenberg: Long Treasuries Are Still The Safest Asset Around
Sure, that's why some cash does make sense. But having someone go 100% all in cash right now doesn't really make sense. If we go into a period of inflation and the Fed implements yield curve control (a period like the 40s, which I think is highly likely) then cash would take just as big, if not wor...
