Re: Non-ESG ETFs
Tempting, but I dunno if I trust "anti-ethical" managers to not front-run their index ;) I probably missed your reference about the managers but I wouldn't have any fear of them front running the fund. The reason I found the fund is because it uses the same index provider that the zero ex...

So like bogglerdude said, You already own Reits in a stock fund so no reason to overweight them.

Re: Non-ESG ETFs
Here is a reasonable non-esg sp 500 ETF: STRV Strive 500 ETF https://www.strivefunds.com/strv I came across it just recently by accident and found out it is co-founded by Vivek Ramaswamy. It is still an index fund but it appears they would be using voting abilities for non-esg policies. The expense ...

I can't argue. I am thankful for GLDM and IAUM. I am happy enough to split between the two to balance some risk and to support them both.

BNY Mellon US Large Cap Core Equity ETF (BKLC) https://im.bnymellon.com/us/en/intermediary/products/etf/fund/bny-mellon-us-large-cap-core-equity-etf.html I have been watching this ETF the last few months that has zero expenses. Re: Small Cap Value seems cheap at the moment
I know how I have seen small cap value indexes have out performed the market but is there an actual small cap value fund that was able to out perform? Maybe you could say DFSTX has but barely as of lately. I don't necessarily think it will continue but it looks like the time to move to small cap val...

Re: How do bond funds / ETF’s work?
I was now curious myself how EDV paid distributions since it has zero coupon bonds. I found these bogleheads threads that have some good responses: https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=401634 https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=346035 I would assume that the distributions wo...

I was going to refer to Paul Marriman's website for best SCV funds but it appears to be down. https://paulmerriman.com/best-in-class-etf-recommendations/ The one I remember being most recommended was AVUV I personally lost the faith for SCV and just do total stock market. I couldn't handle the fatig...

Re: Why the big move in gold?
Sorry Smith. I did just buy some more earlier in the week going to 33/33/33 stocks/intermediate bonds/gold in retirement accounts so the gold portion worked out nicely.
I hate gold but there is nothing else like it.
Do you have any gold now Vinny?

Re: The Bond Market Sweet Spot
Kevin had me second guessing gold in this thread but after the news out of Israel today I believe it still has a place as the chaos asset. The option I have been using for bonds is GOVT. It is a total us treasury fund similar to a total bond fund that holds all the maturities based on market cap. Lo...

Re: The Bond Market Sweet Spot
I was kind of thinking along the same lines Smith. How has a total bond fund compared with a barbell of long bond and cash. Not a crazy difference: Screenshot 2023-10-06 5.05.16 PM.png Portfolio 1 is total bond fund, Portfolio 2 is barbell with annual re balancing. No re balancing was a little worse...

Re: EU IBKR: Cash yield enhancement program
Thank you for the insight seajay. It sounds like a difficult environment to save in. I found the NS&I website while googling how to buy UK bonds and the rates look to be quite a bit lower than what I would expect. I am not sure what to compare this service with. It seems like it might be similar...

Re: EU IBKR: Cash yield enhancement program
Interesting. It sounds like we are spoiled in the US with how easy it is to buy treasury bills directly or even how easy it is to shop around bank savings accounts. Is it not so easy to buy euro bills or find good savings accounts with a bank around Europe? It is hard to put myself in the shoes of b...

Luke Gromen getting into TLT and rising interest rates.

I need to listen to it again to wrap my head around it some more.
I will just stick with 25% GOVT for now to be more cautious.

Thoughts? In short, I am happy I moved to GOVT instead of TLT . Other than that, I am trying to process what is causing higher interest rates. The only thing I can come up with is less liquidity to purchase the bonds but I don't know how or why. Somehow money is getting destroyed and lowering liqui...

Yeah. The most specific thing was treasury bonds for bonds but it didn't lock in a duration. This is what I took article as saying he is in with 25 % in each. High yield short term bank loans for cash Value stocks including international value 10 to 30 year treasuries. Maybe some high rated corporat...

Gundlach still really close to permanent portfolio. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/gundlach-fears-a-recession-here-are-his-low-risk-income-generating-investment-picks-454d1f8a He recommends 25% in every category but has a bit of tilt to each category which would take on more risk. Re: BTC in the PP
I now think of bitcoin as a company like Visa or PayPal that you can buy directly. Once the dust settles I don't see it being more valuable than the largest companies in the world based on the service it offers. If something else comes along that can provide the service better then it may be reduced...
