Re: Netflix junkie

EDIT: I just realized I'm the only person posting in this thread. If the Topic title was amended to (& other) I'd participate. Otherwise I cancelled my Netflix subscription long ago and use Amazon Prime and other means for what Netflix provides. You are hereby granted special dispensation to di...

Re: Michael Saylor: Bitcoin, Inflation, and the Future of Money | Lex Fridman Podcast #276

I'm totally on the same page – Lex Fridman's podcasts are a goldmine of insights! The best part? They're not just quick bites; they're these lengthy, immersive conversations that really let you dig deep into the topics. Well stated! Olandeep is almost certainly a bot. What gives it away? Any first ...

Re: The Bond Dream Room

From the Financial Times, last week, print version: I t was a crisp September day in 2015 when Timothy Young arrived at Houten, an unremarkable Dutch commuter town, determined to col- lect an almost 400-year-old debt. He carried a case containing a fragile piece of goatskin covered in dense writ- i...

I just got AVG's VPN for when I'm in coffeeshops and stuff. Personally, I would think that VPNs are more important when you're at home, when any connection made can be assumed to be yours. Any connection from a coffee shop or a hotel would not be automatically associated with a particular person. U...

Re: I Thought Gold Would Fare Better in 2022-23

That first one is not so much a gold related article as a political article. it reminds me of the strawman that so many bogleheads use: Gold coins are peddled on Fox News to angry old people so gold must be bad, no matter what your reason for buying it. Have not looked at the second. The second is ...

Re: First Movie You Remember Seeing

A Clockwork Orange, when I was about six. Probably the root cause of many of my problems but on the plus side it did make me a lifelong Beethoven fan. Yikes!! I hated the movie primarily because I'm a huge Beethoven fan. I certainly don't want to associate the two. I can't imagine letting a six-yea...

Thank you for telling us about your lifestyle, Vinny. And now, back to the war… Trying to explain why maybe sometimes you need to provide more context to your stray comments. Or, is everyone else tied into second by second news? I think if we're confused about something we can just go look.

I would say Buffett qualifies, no?

I had never thought of him as an entrepreneur before, and so far I'm unconvinced.

Debian. I use it for everything. Xan, if you wanted to hook up an external CD burner, I guess it’s a few extra steps compared to the mainstream OS’s. You probably have to find a list of likely compatible burners, and then, what, download a driver? Is that it, though? A few hours of work at most? I ...

Chromium = Chrome?

Both use the Chromium engine. Most browsers use the Chromium engine.

Say what you will about Microsoft, and I've said plenty, but their backwards compatibility is really good. There shouldn't be any software that runs on 10 that won't run on 11. Just got my answer: "Microsoft released the Windows 11 operating system on October 5, 2021. Currently, only QuickBook...
