Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

There was back and forth a few days ago about what is the benefit to Democrat governors of more lockdowns. I didn't answer then, but here it is. They have no choice but to double down on their initial bet. If it turns out that lockdowns have NOT been net beneficial, they are toast. Some of them migh...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Lay Sweden's curve over that of Illinois. Pretty interesting. I saw it a few days ago but don't know where.

They were the same until recently. Sweden is staying down, while IL and other places are going up.

I still wonder if these are just high band PCR false positives.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread

Could anyone explain to me why the centre part of the USA is Republican? Has it always been this way? Here is the 2016 map by voting precinct. The short answer to your question is the blue is mostly cities and non-whites. Many states' results are determined by their dominant city, such as Chicago. ...

One theory is that they got the original Chinese version, while we and Western Europe got a mutated, more virulent version.

Fauci says Positives from PCR cycles of 36+ are false. Me: But apparently many states and nations are using them.

Did anyone notice that progressive Glenn Greenwald resigned from the Intercept, which he co-founded? They would not publish an article he wrote about Biden.

Trumps pugilistic behavior

Those of you who can’t stand him, how do you feel about the Democrats Russian hoax and subsequent impeachment? He’s had to cope with this abuse for 4 years.

If so, then what purpose does the Electoral College serve that just going by the popular vote does not?

Vinny
Proportional does not allow the EC to have the intended benefits. In a popular vote, only the big states would matter, practically speaking.

Re: What Did Trump Do That Was So Bad?

Tom, I think Trumps personality is damaging to the policies that I support. Browbeating and bullying opponents will create a dangerous backlash and radicalization of the populace. He is tiptoing with bringing this country closer towards civil war. His style of enacting change might feel good on a v...

Rising rates could be kryptonite at this particular point in time, yes. I hope the gold will mitigate the effects. Referring to another part of the thread, according to my notes, my Aha! moment was in 2004. That happens to match up with me realizing George Bush The Younger was a war criminal, and so...

I think the bond allocation is the stickiest issue. I have no problem with the other three. The reserve currency deal is a game changer. So far, in times of trouble, money flows into US Treasuries. Can that be said of any other sovereign bonds?

Re: What makes you happy? Unhappy?

Tyrannical governors like Whitmer and Newsom should be prosecuted and sent to prison, not kidnapped and killed by vigilantes. I agree. How's that working for you in Cali so far? If our government agencies don't do that, regular citizens and business owners should simply disobey the tyrannical gover...

While our political melee and racial issues are concerning and a manifestation of our dysfunction as a species...I'm much more concerned about our ability to cope with climate change. Ironically it's not even a Black swan event. We have known for quite sometime that this is going to present challen...
