It's settling into cash; I'll end up buying stocks with some of it.

Re: The Bond Dream Room
I will go a bit against standard theory...in times like these active rebalancing can be quite fruitful assuming you are not in a taxable account and you have on OK system for when to rebalance. Yes this is market timing and you will have to actively follow the markets until things chill. When thing...

Yes, thank you Craig for your insights - as always! This forum is a key piece of support for people interested in the PP or its variants, and it's important to keep it going. At least to me! I'm sure a lot of people will jump on the PP bandwagon, like lawyers chasing ambulances, but of course it's ...

Re: Simple, Healthy, Delish Recipes
This is a good thing I've been making lately. Put a bunch of thawed boneless/skinless chicken thighs/breasts in the crockpost with some water for like 8 or 9 hours. Make some white rice. Bring it to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer for 5 mins. At 5 mins, stir in some BBQ sauce and sriracha. Adjus...

Re: Negative interest rates
I still don't see the point of intentionally lending people money and getting back less in return. Just don't lend them the money in the first place and you make a higher.... "return." I totally agree for small amounts of cash. But for larger amounts, like nest eggs and large businesses, physical c...

Re: Negative interest rates
Negative interest rates aren’t so weird in a deflationary environment, in which the rate of inflation is negative. I still don't see the point of intentionally lending people money and getting back less in return. Just don't lend them the money in the first place and you make a higher.... "return."

Re: Hong Kong Experimenting With MMT
Well, ok, maybe some people would still want to see a doctor like that. But I don't see why it should be REQUIRED. What if someone just wanted to do rhinoplasties? Or colonoscopies (weirdo)? They could open their Colon Technician shop. People could still go to a doctor with 15 years of higher level...

Re: Dealing With Setbacks in Life
I'm thinking of that episode of It's Always Sunny where Dee dates the rapper. She thinks it's great but The Gang convinces her he's retarded, and at the end he figures it out and battle-raps them and drops the mic. For Smithers, she find out he doesn't drive and thinks there's something wrong with h...

Hah, our office had a Vinny. Rheumy eyes and other leaks, blowing her nose and hacking up gunk. I saw her going through the food table as well. Nearly the entire office was sick a week or two later. This was a couple months ago, I wonder if it was the Wuhan or just regular disease. It put me down fo...

Re: Negative interest rates
In the discussion so far, we have considered the world economy as a single unit. The dynamics between net safe asset producers and safe asset absorbers adds substantial richness to the picture. In an open economy, the scarcity of safe assets in one country spreads to others via capital outflows, un...

Back to one of boglerdude's earlier points though, about needing MORE doctors for all the old and sick people we have.. why do they need to be actual DOCTORS? Nurses and physician assistants can do a ton of stuff and it doesn't cost as much to train them. Continuing in this vein, let's talk about s...

A white woman volunteers to host a dinner in her home for seven other white women – often strangers, perhaps acquaintances. ...

Why, with the greatest healthcare system in the world, can the US not have testing kits readily available yet after watching this go on for weeks now in China, S Korea and Italy? I keep reading it was tried to be made more complicated, there was lab contamination, and agencies can't seem to work to...

Re: My "Super Tuesday" voting experience
Initially I had been having a problem I'd never prior had. Who to vote for! In the past I'd always been certain. This time I did not know who to chose among Pete B, Bloomberg, or Amy K. There was no way I'd be voting for Warren, Biden, or Sanders. . . . I filled in my oval for Bloomberg, put in my ...

If memory serves, European economies improved when they didn't have to rely solely on Jewish lenders or quasi-loans.
I think it goes without saying that nobody should be trying to emulate the Muslim world.

[My friend] had been living with rent control and various tenant protections for years in a huge flat for very little money. Then her elderly landlady died and the new owners carefully threaded the needle of legal procedures. The simplest option was to pay people to leave. It was a three unit build...

It would be a trip if this was an engineered virus that mutated quickly, like in The Stand. The first stage is not too lethal, but infects everyone, including pets now. Then the virus mutates to a really lethal type.
