Re: What Did Trump Do That Was So Bad?
Would you hire Trump to run your business? I think he would be an excellent candidate if you were in the demolition business. Thank you!!!! I have to memorize that one! Or, better yet. To put him in to sabotage a business nearly run it into the ground but not killing it so that you could swoop in. ...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
Since Biden voters overwhelmingly chose to vote by mail specifically due to fear of COVID, I can't see them physically going to a polling place or anywhere else to drop off a ballot. If you're at a polling place why wouldn't you just vote there? To skip the line. Drop completed mail ballot in the b...

Re: Celebrating the end of the COVID-19 pandemic
So to claim that the pandemic is done is pretty much accurate. You could argue that epidemic conditions still exist in isolated pockets of the US, but that's really about it. If you stopped all PCR testing tomorrow and just let life go back to normal, I bet we wouldn't see anything particularly not...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
Well, this is a twist: https://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/half-voters-requested-mail-ballots-returned-73866697 Only half of requested mail-in ballots (90 million total) have been returned. It's too late already to mail them, if they're in a state in which the ballots have to arrive by Election Day. M...

Celebrating the end of the COVID-19 pandemic
In its press release about science and technology accomplishments in it's first term, the White House yesterday included "Ending the COVID-19 pandemic" among the accomplishments. https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-6bc5-d2df-adff-6fdfff5c0000 Might even the hardest core Trump fan consi...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
For voting, you need some assurance that not just your own, but every one else's vote was received intact and processed correctly (with no extraneous ones either). It's a completely different problem. Has that type of assurance ever been provided by any method? A physical ballot box, with lots of p...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
Security: That's where blockchain technology comes in. You can use it for both identification and encryption purposes...I think if someone takes the time to review what this technology is and what it does you will likely agree that it is as secure as in-person voting. But there's a lot more to havi...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
All, Thanks for keeping this a high level good discussion on voting approaches. My .02. In today's age, I think going to the polls physically is shall we say, antiquated. I believe as a general rule, voting should be easy and for registered voters only. I agree with both sides about their main voti...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
In my (red) state, the system allows you to track the status of your mail-in ballot at all times (i.e. date mailed to me, date received back, date counted). That sounds like an excellent system. Does this notification system let you send in another ballot if yours gets lost, or if you made a mistak...

Re: Labor organization
So you both agree with me then. If labor demands more then capital will have to make a choice....make nothing, or make marginally less than they currently do. Who blinks first? Unfortunately labor doesn't do a good job of organizing and negotiating. The entire labor force doesn't have to be involve...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
Was it Arizona I was hearing about how they start counting all the votes as they come in so that on Election Day the only ones not yet counted are the ones that had arrived that day? Vinny I don't know, but I did read that the Trump campaign is suing the State of Nevada to block early counting ther...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
And counting them makes a harmful early release/leak of information possible. Why do it. To relieve the load of trying to tabulate in-person AND mail-in votes all in one day under pressure to deliver a prompt outcome result? Also to have the time to double check and verify counts? Consider how many...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
I forget which state I was hearing described but in this particular state they deal with all the ballots as they receive them. By election night the only votes that have not been counted are the ones that were received that day. Seemed like an excellent system to me. Vinny I'm not sure that's so gr...

Re: Well Duh - Mail in Voting Attack Backfires?
Too funny...initial voting analysis is indicating Trump’s attacks against mail in voting is...ready for it?...suppressing Republican voter turnout. Trump warned by campaign officials of significant early voter decline and challenge now likely raised by much longer lines which will require significa...

And one man or woman can do it. Unilaterally. All it took to close gyms was the governor signing a piece of paper in many states. No legislative body. No judge. One person. And when a group of people decided fuck that, and made plans to kidnap a governor, these people are the monsters and vilified....

Re: Why are you afraid of if the “other” party wins?
WiseOne rang the bell on this observation...personally I think this is the tragedy of Trump. He was absolutely on to something in 2016 and assembled an outstanding team that could have made some excellent progress in this area. But then, well, he’s just himself. Watching him in 2016 it was apparent...

Re: Who won the debate?
My impression is that the debate did nothing other than reinforce the predisposition each viewer had going in. Does anyone think it was pivotal enough to change anyone's mind? Emblematic of politics today in general, I surmise we each heard exactly what we wanted to hear. I also get the impression t...

IIRC, the only case where the Supreme Court said that someone born here to non-citizen parents was a natural born citizen was one where the parents were permanent residents, not tourists or other temporary residents. This might help: In the case of United States vs Wong Kim Ark 169 U.S. 649 (1898) ...

Re: Yet another election complication
Doing a little research on the definition of "natural born citizen" and thus Harris' eligibility to be President, I found the following Harvard Law Review article on the subject: https://harvardlawreview.org/2015/03/on-the-meaning-of-natural-born-citizen/ . Case law and other citations ar...
