I'm not sure about the rest of the analysis, but the blithe dismissal of dividends seems pretty foolish.

It may be that these are "loss-leaders". Give the scan away for (basically) free, and some percentage of people scanned will need hospital services. It's very likely they'll get those services at the same hospital. I don't know whether that's good or bad: they're delivering on their promis...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

Whenever there's a debate about whether or not "men" can get pregnant, it's worth asking what the definition of "man" is. One side of the debate will have a very clear definition, and the other side will be totally unable to define the word "man". Without being able to ...

O0 The etymology of mid- in this case is ‘with’, like German mit, so that would work. However, mid-person sounds like non-gendered, period. Haha Another weird one is "fishwife". A "fish-person" sounds like a character from a bad sci-fi movie. Edit: Oh! And what should we call ma...

So WiseOne, would you mind clarifying your point of view specifically with regard to the battery of tests that GPs recommend as patients cross particular ages? (In my case, 40?) I'm not sure exactly what they are: colonoscopy, heart CT, etc?

For example, 1 oz gold krugerrands. Random year is cheaper than 2019 coins, fine. 1980 coins are on sale at Apmex, but they are more expensive than 2019 issue coins. Are they collectors’ items or something? I think the answer to your last question is yes. At some point gold coins take on a numismat...

If I store it at home, I’ll get shot. I feel better keeping it at the bank. Agreed. There was a home burglary in my neighborhood a few weeks ago, and the owner was home at the time (midday). The burglar severely beat the man and escaped with a safe. The man died later in the hospital. Although I do...
