Re: PP article

Not worth posting, really. It's just that if asked, you give the advice to include a little gold to a beginner's portfolio, you're bound to get down votes on Reddit.

Re: PP article

Yeah with all the volatility in stocks, the PP is definitely getting more attention. I still get downvoted on Reddit though ;-) Thanks for posting.

I clicked lark, but since I live in Central European Time and start quite early (around 7 AM), it's entirely possible that I'm with the owls here :)

Re: Bitcoin in the PP?

I am honestly curious what the thought process of the risk/reward ratio is of putting 0.5%-1.0% bitcoin in one's portfolio? Well, I for one think it's a very good idea. The PP provides for this, in some sense. Besides the Permanent Portfolio, it's advised to keep a VP = Variable Portfolio, if you w...

My first bear market and I'm sleeping tight

Hi folks, When I started freelancing about five years ago, I knew I had to step up saving and investing. First for the inevitable drought in work, and second because I'd no longer have a employer-provided pension. A lot of blogs were touting Buy & Hold 100% stocks portfolios. But from what I read ab...

Possibly nothing as far as future performance goes, but it tells me this - micro-size your bitcoin allocation.
Compared to my PP, I've got about 3% bitcoin. Enough for me right now ;)

Re: Getting Into Linux

How many forums users here are regular Linux users? Not on the desktop, but on the server, yes. My biggest gripe so far is the lack of a turnkey backup solution like Time Machine in MacOS. Also, there is no Microsoft Visual Studio Code, so I've elected to use Atom as my IDE. It's not as good, thoug...

Re: Bitcoin loses half of its value in two-day plunge

Fun times :)

My VP is about 4% of my PP, and 2% is in Bitcoin. I don't worry about it, really. It's just there in case Bitcoin turns out to be a huge winner in the future.

Happy to hear you're still working on the new company, Craig! The book was pivotal to me, it offered a recent picture of the PP and allowed me to start investing.

Re: Online Security

This forum is extremely revealing in the financial sense. I can tell you from experience that it can rub people the wrong way when they know you're well off. I have a colleague who asked what I earned, and I told him. Even though it was less than him , he was jealous for weeks. Because, so he reason...

Re: [EU] Value of short-term bonds as "cash"

I've got a EU PP, and my cash is NOT in a money market fund. As long as my portfolio is small enough to keep it cash in regular savings accounts, I'll do so.

And because in AI there is a known fact that the party who is in front will stay in front (and increase the lead) the obvious pick would be $GOOG.
If you believe in AI, then what about Tesla?

Re: 2019 Permanent Portfolio Results

My PP is the normal stuff except it's divided between gold, 7-10 yr. European bonds, world stocks, and the cash is on a 0.5% interest savings account (because we've got a negative rate money market here in Europe, Mario Draghi be damned). I'm still overweight on cash, which will be remedied in the n...

Yes. Just the title, of course, says a lot but would have loved to have read it.
I'd expect it to be pretty explosive. Just the title suggests that he perhaps didn't change much in his views on this topic, since "Freedom in an unfree world".
