Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
Dualstow,, This might be a dumb question but I don't get why a coin that costs $29.50 has "100 Euro" on the back. Kinda like the American Eagles that say $50 on the back... only different. Yeah, it's weird. You should ignore the face value. It's funny, though: when I read that silver is l...

They're good kids. We have a good time when we hang out, i.e. they're not adult-hating teenagers yet.

Well, I placed the order (Apmex). Whether or not they get any of my silver fiddles is up in the air.MachineGhost wrote:Just give them Chinese Panda coins!!!
But they will get some cute non-metal non-monetary gifts.

Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
Funny story. I was out with some friends last night and one of them, a guy in his sixties, was getting ready to get rid of some proof coins (no silver or gold content). I asked him if he used to collect and he said that his dad used to give them as gifts. "Kind of a pain in the ass to deal with...

Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
These are the coins that are made in Austria, correct Dualstow? Correcto. https://is.gd/nWehoB (see image at right) It would be a boring world if we all had MG's high standards. Glad to see someone's down in the gutter with me. They look cool! Plus, as a bonus for the kids, they have the word "...

Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
I'm bullish on silver so long as its in an uptrend because of solar panel usage. But not as a gold replacement. Oh come on, you can do better than that! Those are pretty boring looking coins. Not cute teddy bear equivalent. At all. I'm trying to picture a bunch of girls squealing with delight at a ...

Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
So you know very little about silver and yet you've settled on it? Think of it this way. I am buying a few teddy bears for my nieces. I really don't care how they fare as an investment, but I know they will tickle the girls' collective fancy. Just out of curiosity, though, I have heard that some pe...

Re: Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
They range in age from about 9-16. I appreciate all the suggestions for fractional gold ounces, but I'm set on the silver philarmonics. Probably the same horrible markup, right? If I wanted to invest in their future, I'd buy a savings bond or contribute to a college fund or something. This is just s...

Do you think silver will beat future inflation?
I'm thinking about buying some 1oz silver coins, although not as an investment. I want to give them out to the kiddies as part of a stocking stuffer this Christmas. I am curious, though. Do you think silver will keep up with inflation over the next 10, 20, 30, 40 years? I'm bound to keep some for my...

Re: I'm free
We pay out of pocket for our non-Obamacare ("extra-ACA"?), and the price has gone up several times over 3 years. Still doing better than a friend of mine, though, who was dropped completely. Why would you still want to pay for your skyrocketing non-ObamaCare instead of getting the taxpaye...

Re: I'm free
Here's some more bad news. ObamaCare affected the individual health insurance market, not just Medicaid and the Marketplace Exchanges. We pay out of pocket for our non-Obamacare ("extra-ACA"?), and the price has gone up several times over 3 years. Still doing better than a friend of mine,...

I read the Wheat Belly book by Don Davis and it's a crock of spelt. Made his egg-flax-coconut oil wraps, and they were delicious, but they also went right through me. Bread makes me happy. So does weissbier.MachineGhost wrote:Shame on you wheat belly male tubbies eating bread, though.

Re: Speed ovens
Now I'm cooking up a storm, including bread . Now that I would love to see a thread on. I'm still struggling with bread myself. Tastes good but I don't get much oven spring, if any at all. Might be the altitude. Hah, I have heard people mention altitude as a possible issue in reviews of bread mixes.

Re: Speed ovens
Is it the same thing as a convection oven? Speed oven appears to be a Miele brand combination of microwave & convection. WiseOne, I have a gas range, as I did pre-renovation. There was something wrong with the pre-renovation one; it never worked quite right. Now I'm cooking up a storm, includin...

Re: Your Kickstarter idea could be on sale in China before you’ve even finished funding it
The only real defense is to include a feature that is difficult to manufacture without certain expertise, work really fast to be first to market, and keep innovating so that you can move on to the next product by the time people catch up to your last one. Yeah, I was daydreaming about engineers inc...

Re: Your Kickstarter idea could be on sale in China before you’ve even finished funding it
It's really hard to know whether to applaud or cry. I'm sure it wasn't that much different during the Industrial Revolution except for the patents. I have read about the United States ripping off Britain's textile patterns when it was a young nation. What's different here is that you put your idea ...

Re: Hand Holding
The stock market has turned decidedly negative in recent days. We're reaching the end of Obama's false economy so be careful. Well God bless his false economy and what it's done for us, Reub, because it's been an incredible run. Only things is, I would rather have stocks remain low as I am still in...

Off-topic: I had a limit order in to sell my Alcoa that I put in just the day before. It did not trigger (it was not a stop loss), so I felt that 10% drop. Should have just sold it all at market last week.MachineGhost wrote: After today's bad earnings on AA,
