Re: Repos and "Treasury" MM funds - the saga continues

fdlxx uses no repos .

the regular fidelity treasury money market does .

the 7 day yield is 4.15 on fdlxx vs 4.47 .

i prefer no repos and use fdlxx

Whatever the rear view mirror shows, I still like holding some treasuries.
Interesting, though. Makes me feel better about the gold I’m holding.

Re: gold beats bonds for 30 years

i guess in a recession or depression bonds may do better but more typically the last 30 years no reason for the bonds evidently as we have had recession , covid , the dot com bust etc. maybe if we look at individual years we can find some years it wasn’t true that gold won out but by the end of each...

there is more that goes on then just expenses as tlt is up more then schq is ytd tlt has duration of 17.6 and schq 16.6. so expenses are just one component but it likely isn’t a deciding factor when comparing many funds since the funds are just inherently different. in this case duration overwhelms ...

Isn't that kind of the point of the HBPP? >:D
not really , the point is to stay a head of inflation with perhaps a bit of extra growth .

flat is not good , especially if retired and taking inflation adjusted draws .

gold is a competitor to the dollar so a dollar can wipe away golds moves the same as it can wipe away gains in international stocks .

it is only a hedge if the inflation is causing the dollar to weaken , which it has not.

gold did a good job in india up 68% since 2020 but it hasn’t done a good. job in dollars since we saw this spike

Gold continues to be a non-fiat global currency that the US dollar aspires to peg to, but that periodically has and likely will continue fail to do so reliably. Chances are that as/when divergence occurs that they will move in opposite directions. Yellen has been attempting to at least in part alig...

Gold got crushed by the dollar .

Looking at gold in India it is up something like 68% since 2020 in their currency.
