Hahah, that's good stuff! I have been re-listening to the Them Crooked Vultures album--they are a super group combining Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Led Zeppelin: Here's how the magic happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhdCslFcKFU&feature=related Here's the end result (volume nee...

PP67, Congrats!! I like to think of starting a new PP as being similar to starting a new relationship. At your stage I think you have just gotten her (I'm assuming you're a straight male) phone number and are debating when to call her back. You then come back to brag to your PP buddies and they a...

Re: How Old Are You And What Is Your Goal Using The PP?
I like the LOTR analogy a lot. Interestingly, the movie/book highlighted the cooperation of four races that were completely different than one another and that have a history of almost downright hating each other, but come together in the end to destroy the ring. Those 4 races (men, hobbits, dwa...

Hello, my name is Gosso and I have an addiction to YouTube...and I have no desire to stop ;D I thought it would be fun for people to post some of their favourite YouTube clips, or clips that they are currently enjoying. Try to keep them under 5 minutes, since this is meant to be quick and dirty fu...

I think you are confusing ‘cults’ with ‘blind faith’. Anytime there are a set of rules or beliefs set in place, then you could easily call the people that follow these rules members of a cult. Here are some groups of people that I would describe as a following a cult: - all religions - democrats ...

Re: Bill Hicks
I only discovered Bill Hicks over the past two or three months, so I'm still digesting a lot of what he had to say. It's as if he had every ounce of societal programming torn from his mind and he was free to simply observe the world as it is. He is able to deliver a lot of wisdom in a hilarious an...

Doodle, Have you heard of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project ? It sounds like it would be right up your alley. I find it fascinating. It's pretty hard to explain so I'll let YouTube do it for me (only 3 minute clip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Y363-gPX8 Basically it is a society where doll...

Re: Doomsday Preppers
One of the best TSHTF strategies is to simply get to know your neighbors and the members of your community. It's something you hear about a lot, but it's very true. We tend to help people that we know, and we tend to ask people we know for help when we need it. Plus this enriches your life today . ...

Re: fixing the media's bias
I was thinking about the logical-fallacies for a bit, and it occurred to me that these are not necessarily a bad thing. These techniques can be used for good (at least whatever the person using them deems to be good). Is it not more compelling to use the logical-fallacies to make an argument, rath...

Re: How Old Are You And What Is Your Goal Using The PP?
27 years old, no kids (that I know of), no wife or gf. I have been a happy PP customer for over nine months. I make decent money as an engineer. For me the PP is a simple way to achieve an investment return of 3-5% above inflation. Some years will be better, some more lean. I have accepted this....

So true. I may have been a little over zealous in my argument that people are generally good. Quick somebody tell me which logical-fallacy I was using?! It really depends on their cultural programming, their placement in society, and the seriousness of the situation. There are a lot of people i...

Re: Doomsday Preppers
The likely response to a SHTF scenario really depends on which community you're talking about. There are plenty of documented cases of certain communities descending into looting and violence the moment the opportunity arises. And there are plenty of documented cases of certain other communities pu...

Here is a short 3 minute clip on the "The Great Ice Storm of '98". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfcNRWefEEU At the time when it happened I was only 13 years old, so I may not have been aware of the gravity of the situation, but it was nowhere near as terrifying as the clip makes it out to be. Whe...

Gosso, So society didn't descend into lawlessness? Are you saying that you never heard a single report of people resorting to cannibalism? What about zombies? How many zombies did you see? People were quite civil and friendly. No reports of looting, cannibalism, or zombies. The only thing that w...

Re: Doomsday Preppers
In a way I have lived through a SHTF scenario, although on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the worst) this might have only been a 2 or 3. In 1998 there was a severe ice storm in Ontario and Quebec that knocked out power for at least a week and even longer in some areas. http://i.imwx.com/web/news/20...

So where were we at? Oh yeah, the media is always deceiving us and trying to get us to believe things that aren't true. I'm glad I am smart enough to resist all of their tricks. Since I have Bill Hicks on the brain, I thought I would post his comments on people in the advertising/marketing busine...

As a former lurker for over one year, I feel I need to say something on this topic. I am by nature (or nurture) an introvert, so sticking my neck out is not my strong suit. Here is a letter addressed to the Lurker Gosso from three months ago (mid December 2011). This was inspired by The Screwtape...
