Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime
As we know, the Japanese eat Allota rice. Yet they have some of the longest lifelongevity in the world. How do the no fiber gurus understand that phenomenon? Do you really think steamed white rice has a lot of fiber? Carbs, yes. Fiber, no. Ya, but carbs are supposed to be poison, according to the l...

Re: The GOLD scream room
Budd, mathjack107 reported success with the Fidelity Monitor & Insight Newsletter. He mentioned an annual gain of approximately 11% or a bit more. Sounds OK for a high net worth individual. I believe the newsletter deemphasizes gold. The newsletter might be nice when implementing a VP. Hulbert Fina...

Re: vanguard vs fidelity
Interestingly enough, doesn’t it happen in so many fields of life that people have different experiences (success vs failure, results achieved more quickly vs more slowly, etc) trying to accomplish the same thing? This leads me to believe that there is a more subtle and more powerful influence at wo...

Re: vanguard vs fidelity
My experience at Fidelity is different than what is being discussed. A rep walked me thru a bond purchase (I was not charged anything for her service). Prior to speaking with her I had initiated a transfer and she was able to use it to purchase the bond. And on top of that she was able to initiate a...

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime
It's really not that hard. Just stop eating carbohydrates. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK8259/ It balances the PH in your mouth (tartar, decay) and starves S mutans. (caries) Mark, isn’t that like “robbing Peter to pay Paul” because carbs have good benefits also, especially if you’re a vege...

What is “deep cash” exactly?
In some posts people refer to deep cash. Is this part of the overall 25% portion of the PP? Or is it additional to that 25%, like a variable cash portfolio?

Re: Modelling TLT in an Era of Rising Rates, part 2
In all fairness, you need to consider cash and bonds as one block, even so, the results aren't pretty. I am a big proponent of cash + 10 year Treasury, average duration about 5 years. Why is it necessary to consider cash and bonds as one block? Not necessary, but a worthwhile mental model. Cash and...

Re: Treasury ladder
Clarification: the ladder takes 2 yrs to "setup " - 2 yrs for ALL rungs to reach 2 yrs. This investment would be for "secondary" cash since I feel OK with holding cash (that I would draw on first/regularly) in a high yield savings account. I appreciate the comment about keeping it simple by just buy...
