Re: EU-PP whilst buying a house.

Frugal, The decision to buy a house should not be based on your long-term investments. It's a consumer/quality of life decision first and foremost. Then figure out how much you need to save for a the standard 20% down payment, and what your anticipated fixed costs will be - counting everything incl...

Re: EU-PP whilst buying a house.

hi

how much you pay of % interest of the loan to the bank?

EUPP interest should be higher.

Are you comfortable with loans?

Can't you buy a less maintenance and cheaper house?

This is vp + pp.
I haven't untangled the cash from the bonds yet, as I'd have to go through a lot of stuff like 5-year notes.

Hmm, that's less stock than I thought. 5% less.
hi

only 10% gold?

Why?

1. I have never met anyone who later regretted paying off their mortgage. Before you do that, though, you should check the implications for future taxes. Also, be prepared for having a change in perspective on all sorts of things once you are finally debt free. 2. I think that buying rental real es...

Re: How to convince someone to use HB-PP

Refer them to Tyler's portfolio charts website and let them check it out for themselves. Then answer questions if they have any. I agree with farjean. A person's retirement savings is about as sacrosanct as it gets and it has to be their decision. I would never try to convince anyone to use the HB-...

Re: What to do after a windfall :

It’s cash and equivalents until cash hits the upper rebalancing band. That's the right way to play it. New money 100% to cash until it spills over the 35% level. Then let nature make the decision. hi history says that it should enter in PP as soon as possible. So, we don't have to wait for rebalanc...

How to convince someone to use HB-PP

Dear friends,

I am not good convincing others.

Anyone of you, have already convinced a friend or parent to use HB-PP?

How shall I do it with saying, you have to read the book...

... the book is not in our language.

Thank you for your tips!

hi nice hair! O0 I miss your smiling HB avatar, my friend. Can it be: 60% CD 10% PP 30% certificates of government Is this safe? I’m afraid I know nothing about Portugal except Carmen Miranda, large sardines, and a cool leather bag that my dad brought me. Even so, 10% pp seems quite small, especial...

Re: What to do after a windfall :

If the windfall were US$250,000, I’d probably do something like ocho. I don’t have a windfall every two weeks, but I also find it hard to buy new stock right now. It’s cash and equivalents until cash hits the upper rebalancing band. If the windfall were, say, $2 million, then pp. The whole pizza. I...

Re: What to do after a windfall :

To be honest, my mentality is similar, we live on about 50% of our income, so every two weeks I get a windfall. All of my new money is going to cash (Ally Bank, I-bonds), high quality Government and Corporate bonds less than 5 years duration, and gold on the dips. I am buying zero additional stocks...

4,3% and what about inflation? It does not beat official inflation by much, and perhaps does not beat real inflation at all. But multiple-year periods of underperformance are not unusual. Do you think to change to a more aggressive lazy portfolio? Such as...? If you have a concrete suggestion and s...

Re: Permanent Portfolio in Europe (follow-up)

Hi,

some years ago we could find in some countries in Eurozone, 3-4-5% for cash deposit in some banks.

This ended forever?

The high rate for cash will never come again?

Hello all! :) A friend introduced me to the Permanent Portfolio and this forum. Re: Starting EU PP, doubts about the bonds part

It is always going to be a "bad time" to get into at least one of the PP assets, by default. That's how the system is designed: the PP accepts the damage done by the losing assets, but offsets those losses with the (usually) superior gains of the winning assets. The differential between t...
