Re: Rebalance during these days of high volatility?

I've set my future 403(b) contributions to be all stock, but haven't rebalanced yet.

Thinking about doing a bit of DCA Rebalancing today, but I guess it's need to do that soon.

I do hope so.

Still waiting to rebalance; likely waited too long again (in 2908/2009 too early, since then, too hesitant on any of the shirt term dips)

What consumers need right about now is Andrew Yang's Freedom Dividend. Pfftt. Can't even spend it anywhere. They just closed down the liquor stores here, for fuck's sake! Food. Rent. Online entertainment. Not everyone has secure jobs or emergency funds. And even those that do, maybe not as secure a...

Interestingly, a friend of mine who holds a 100% cash portfolio responded to the financial armageddon by buying a car today. That's one way to rebalance!
Pay cash, or get a 0% loan? (Those it there yet?)

My car is getting long in the tooth, and if can get 0%, might be tempted.

$1,000 / mo. I wonder if that's where Romney got the idea, as his one time $1,000 matches.

Is a nice round number though, so coincidence likely as well.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I don't understand the theory that lowering interest rates will help. So rather than giving money to the people who are suddenly hurting REALLY HARD for money with no end in sight, we give money to banks hoping that those people will then borrow money. I guess a loan is better than nothing, but why...

US vs Canadian currency

Asking for a friend (really :) ) US resident temporarily living in Canada. How much of their savings to have in Canadian vs US currency. A few months worth of Canadian expenses? Other? Everyone starts the PP when gold is near its highs :P I feel called out. Not that I'm true PP (59% stock, ~12% gold as target) and I did wait for my ~ 70/30 BH to recover after 2009 to start buying gold (IIRC). But yeah. My retirement funds would be better higher if I hadn't gone more conservative ...

3) Put schools directly on the hook for half the loss, with the other half on the bank that gave the loan. I've also thought 1/3 student, lender, institution, or some such. Haven't really thought in depth, but sounds reasonable to me to have everyone with skin in the game. And if fraud on the insti...

Re: Fiscal stimulus in response to corona virus

Exactly. It's just like student loans. Not fair to bail out just some and penalize those who paid theirs off or didn't take them in the first place. Bad precedent. IMI, having Student loans really hard to discharge in bankruptcy is bad policy. Taking a risk to sell a tangible good or service as a co...

DeBlasio won’t close schools in New York City. That’s interesting. I think that I have disclosed that three towns in the county to the south of mine have closed their schools for three weeks (no reported cases). And, in the town next to mine (same county, also no reported cases) schools are closed ...

Re: Stock scream room

I was more pure bogglehead portfolio 2008 / 2009.

Rebalanced s couple of times on the way down.

Couldn't get myself to rebalanced the last time (when it actually WAS at the bottom).

I don't think I had hard rules though.

Not sure what I'll do when this time.

Check at end of month maybe....

Be careful what you wish for. You should talk to some Canadians before thinking that this is a good idea. Loooong waits to see specialists and have surgery are the norm there.
Long waits to see medical folks here in the US as well.
