It's July 2020

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

People watching each other's backs is what a forum should really be about. Thanks. Yo, as a budding superstar comedian (comedienne, in Canada?), you have to listen to Bill Burr's latest appearance on the Rogan podcast. It's awesome front start to finish, but they talk a lot about advice for young c...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

Reject ethnomasochism. I've heard this term used by John Derbyshire but never really thought he was talking about some kind of deep-rooted and possibly sexual fetish until now. See the video of the CEO of Chik-Fila shining the shoes of a black musician and some police even doing similar things. In ...

Re: Where would you move?

My cousins grew up in Des Moines. We went out to visit them in the winter, and it was awesome. We played all day in the woods with (IIRC) 38ft of snow. Only one fatality.

Re: Where would you move?

I spent a lot of time doing that a couple years ago. You really have to get into the weeds to figure this stuff out, though. For instance, in Michigan you can deduct money for heating your home in the winter. With local taxes especially, it's pretty much impossible to compare vast amounts of places,...

As I was reading it I was thinking of defense team BJJ as well. Clearly some high IQ mind-meld going on tonight.

I liked Schiff's stance on government that he put up where he walked around Occupy Wall Street talking to people.

When these people are killed or their house is burned down I would imagine that their police department is going to get the fuck sued out of them, but it's tough to tell nowadays.

Re: Roger Stone Freed by Trump

This is why the best advice is "Never talk to the police (or FBI, or whatever)". Call your lawyer and have him talk to them. That's the only way to avoid being caught in a perjury trap. You may say "but what if your lawyer tells them something they have evidence against"? He is ...

You're welcome to try to prove that the reproductive rate among blacks suddenly increased 18-26 years ago, after remaining stable for more than 2 decades. Best of luck with that. Whoever let that article through will probably be canceled. To combine these two points, Peter Frost recently posted abo...

The gist of all this is the investigation should have never happened in the first place, so he would have never done the things he did without the investigation, right? So, just curious if anyone knows -- if police had a search warrant for my house to find something particular, say a gun (are these...

It's in the Constitution, so since the beginning of the country. Some of the early pardons are pretty wild.

Anyone know of other countries who allow something like this? It's a bit like the Israeli "right of return" - for which I decidedly do not qualify. Ireland. You are automatically an Irish citizen if one of your parents was an Irish citizen at the time of your birth and was born on the isl...

Re: Grover Norquist now!

If you consider yourself to be either anti-abortion or pro-life (whichever label you choose).....are you against abortion in all cases or do you have exceptions? Vinny I would think it depends on what is behind the opinion. If you're pro-life because you believe a fetus is a human being, then it lo...

Re: Grover Norquist now!

I thought of an anti-abortion female who gets impregnated by a rapist and wants to abort it.

Alternatively, the guy who got his girl pregnant and was happy to have a baby on the way, then she aborts it.

As an aside, Grover Norquist sounds like a tweed jacket in name-form.

That's an impressive cost/mile. Since I bought my current vehicle I've driven it just under 7k miles a year and I spent an avg $1760/ year. So, 25 cents/mile vs Vinny's 23 cents/mile. And I haven't even had to get a new license. I didn't include depreciation, which is usually my biggest cost related...

I remember trying to get people to just email me instead of texting me back when I was on a smartphone with limited texts and no data (I could just connect to ever-present WIFI and check emails, kind of a proto Republic Wireless concept). For some reason, telling them that they can write an email on...
