Re: Hedging Against U.S. Dollar Losing Global Reserve Status
You own part of a company in Germany. The Mark doubles in value, company intakes Marks, you convert your dividend to twice as many dollars. German consumers slowly catch on and buy more American stuff, raising the price of those products. Purchase Power Parity gets restored. This isnt an investing f...

Re: How much to save for retirement

Also avg life span in nursing home is 2 years. > the view among ordinary Americans that the lives of elderly people don't have much value But of co...

Juries love sob stories. whats the reason victims would be under-compensated. Insurance company donations to judges? Car accident victims seem well compensated, even when fault isnt totally clear. Like gun violence, elder abuse cant be cured. And the cure could be worse than the disease. In the case...

Re: bonds, what is the person you are loaning to going to do with it. The only free lunch is population growth. New home, car, education loans. On top of that, there's more rich people than ever handing out those loans

Re: Hedging Against U.S. Dollar Losing Global Reserve Status

Flu used to be called the Angel of Mercy for the moribund. Hmm. Was going to say, why dont we build huge facilities on cheap land in the midwest, staff with immigrants. But I suppose surprise visits from family go a long way toward preventing abuse. Gonna start running 5Ks, hopefully my heart will e...

Fed raised rates and defended the dollar, 30 year at 3.64%. There will be some pain but not hyperinflation. In the next flight to safety ima dump it all @1.5%

Re: I'M OUT!
Now you panic, after martial law was lifted? We've done inflationary defaults before. Nixon shock, 2009 bailouts. It is concerning that they're bailing out banks again before the "covid emergency" is even over. Anywho, the Fed defended the dollar, 30 year is 3.6%. PP holds up in theory unt...
