Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I have at least one friend whose company has decided to go remote forever. What this is all going to do to commercial real estate is going to be devastating.

And Air Traffic, wow:

Re: Interesting Options Risk-Hedging Strategy

How about marrying up a short etf as protection? Do even 1x short funds suffer decay? I feel like I’ve asked this. Ride up, sell the long, ride down, sell the short. Not 50/50, maybe 90 long 10 short? Why is this sounding good to me right now. Not thinking straight. Edit: Even 1x short funds rebalan...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Has it really gotten that partisan that not even one purple state democrat wouldn’t vote for nomination, whoever it might be? To think not that long ago voting on judges was nearly unanimous a lot of the time.

What about proportional electoral college? A couple states do that already, so there must be some constitutional way around the normal method?

Of course they would. They're all politicians and hypocrisy is the name of the game.

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I am sure a lot of you know specific reasons why you'd like a liberal vs conservative court and vice versa. Seems reasonably immaterial to me. The one that is always brought up is Roe v Wade. I really don't know much about that. If I understand correctly that legalized abortion, would overturning th...

Re: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

So if this doesn’t happen the Democrats will steal the election. But if she stayed alive they were going to steal it anyway I guess there’s no way Trump can lose. Either he wins, or the democrats stole it? According to NPR, there are at least 5 republicans that will not vote until after Jan 20. This...

Re: A Simple Framework to Prepare for the Next Bear Market

Boy, if the surge in stocks after the first drop during coronavirus doesn't prove out that there is little correlation of the market with anything happening out there, regardless of earnings, too long of a bull market, too short of a bear market, etc. I don't know what is. I have trimmed back a coup...

If Vinny keeps it up, this thread will be longer than the coronavirus thread in no time. I've already been wisely counseled by Xan so there will be drastically less activity in this topic. Plus, I'm 72% through the book. Vinny You have a digital version of the book, right? You aren’t retyping all t...

Good point. With that many, there really wouldn't be a need to develop personal relationships with other congress people.

There would need to be some reasonable guidelines, I'd think: Once you got picked by lottery, you are checked for --Must be a high school graduate --Must pass a basic intelligence test, whatever that might be that doesn't offend somebody or some group --Must not have any current government business ...

Well if not term limits, to thin out the career politicians. Maybe reduced salary with their nearly 200,000 dollar salary. While we are at it put limits on their Perks. The average U.S. salary is 50-60 thousand. Would it be a more sought after job after the reductions in salary and Perks, or is the...

People that continue to see all of this as a R vs D thing are really missing the big picture.
Doesn't that play into the whole global elite conspiracy theory? Why then, does he campaign actively, and hard, for so many republicans? Why would he care, if it is a uinparty?

The proscribed United States diet is not based upon science but based upon politics, driven by lobbyists. Vinny But it all started with Ancel Keys, a scientist, cherry picking data to fit his "saturated fat is bad" dogma. Right, and who's to say the same isn't true about masks? btw, Vinny...

Cortopassi, the study you are looking for has effectively already been done. Take a look at photos of the early June Black Lives Matter protests in New York City. Trump, the Uniter In Chief(tm). Why doesn't he just come out and say it's all BS? His supporters have been for a while.
