Re: Engineers on the forum: did you like the Lightning connector?

But lightning can also go in upside down. I wish they would have made it the standard. O0 But, I don’t know the details with regard to speed, etc. I just know C has triple the number of pins. Engineer here. My iPhones, ear pods, etc are lightning. My MacBook Pro is USB-C. I don't have a preference ...

Re: Dawg Pound

Every Saturday on Labor Day weekend I go to Keene New Hampshire for a music festival. They have 7 different impromptu stages set up on Main Street. The music starts about 10:30 AM and ends about 12 hours later. One of the bonuses for me that day is meeting a lot of peoples' dogs. This year I counte...

I have an Apple "monitor". It is firmly attached to the computer/keyboard/touchpad of my MacBook Pro. Excellent display quality. It is much more user friendly than this monitor:

I don’t think anyone has yet mentioned the very worst thing. As best as I can tell, it’s not an Apple monitor.

There is a difference between an investor and an entrepreneur. Investors invest in entrepreneurs. I think of Buffett as an investor.

Re: Computer stuff

I’ve never tried Bitwarden. I tried Lastpass several years ago (before it was hacked) but didn’t like it as much as 1Password which I’ve now used for several years. It’s quite easy and fast and the integration between the MacBook and iPhones is seamless. It is not perfect but plenty good enough. I a...

I guess it’s necessary, but I only used it a short while and decided to forswear VPN’s.
I’ve thought about it several times. In the end I trust (somewhat) Nord more than a potential unknown man-in-the-middle snooper. YMMV

You all might like this course. Very interesting. I'm guessing Vinny might especially like since he says he spends much time listening to various topics. Enjoy! https://academy.1517.org/courses/faith-and-reason (6 sessions of about 25 minutes each plus a quiz on each if you like) If you like this on...

Mostly Safari (in my opinion best blend of security, privacy, stability, system resource load) and I use almost all the time with Nord VPN. Sometimes I'll use Firefox, DuckDuckGo, Edge, and very rarely Chrome - all on a MacBook Pro.

Perhaps more importantly.. is that MacBook Pro's keyboard still working? :o Yes, the 2018 keyboard is still working. FWIW, I do prefer the keyboard on my "really old" 2009 MacBook Pro; key strokes just feel better. What did the 2018 cost? I don't remember exactly, but somewhere in the $2k...

My "old" 2018 MacBook Pro has 32GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD. Works great for me. :)

Re: Putin Invades Ukraine II

Could be. Newspaper writing just isn’t what it used to be. In the same Financial Times issue, I saw an article about grain exports, mostly wheat. It says Russia is already the world’s largest exporter of wheat, and now that they’re targeting Ukrainian grain terminals, they want to push Ukraine out ...

Use a virtual app such as Parallels or VirtualBox on a Mac if you need or want to run PC programs. I tried it many years back on my 2009 MacBook Pro but stopped using it in favor of equivalent Mac based apps, e.g.Numbers for Excel, Pages for Word, etc. See link for more detail. https://www.howtogeek...

I’d like to test it before 30 days are u...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Maybe the monitor has a problem. Return it. Buy Mac mini and monitor from Costco (if they have them) or Apple at same time. Good service is worth every cent. Since the monitor turns on, I’m willing to try more testing. I’m going through the documentation. Mountaineer, don’t you miss the old days? Y...
