Re: Question About Gold and Taxes
The coolest way to do this is out of an IRA. Then not only are you bypassing the capital gains taxes, you're bypassing income tax completely! (Though not FICA of course.)

On this chart, I would place myself right around the word "separatism." It would be on the far-right edge as far as possible away from the "Communism" point or the "Totalitarianism" line. The only point that matches "It would be on the far-right edge as far as pos...

Re: The GOLD scream room
That's why I think an asymmetric rebalance band for gold makes sense... buy it on sale, and if it spikes again, don't be buying it at the higher price. Idf that's market timing, so be it. That's also knowing which side of the ocean you're on. Right now, we are in the middle. I think we're always in...

Is it just me, or isn't it very easy to see after a parabolic gold melt-up and the price gets under the 300 day / 43 week simple moving average that it's going to be bad? It's very easy to see whatever you want to see in these graphs. The most critical thing that one wants to see, but actually doe...

I "sort of" agree but not totally. I would describe what you are describing as "God's natural law is written on everyones heart" rather than our innate reason which is within us via self-reflection; thus we all (maybe not the Jeffrey Dahmer types) have a sense of right and wron...

I'm confused... What's unethical about promising a particular rate of return in exchange for the use of money? Why does it matter how much they were able to earn with the money in the meantime?

Re: Shallow Gold
The "28%" collectibles tax doesn't work like that. My understanding is that the collectible tax rate is the same as your ordinary income tax rate, capped at 28%. Yeah, but everytime I look it up its always "at 28%" (which is wrong) or then I find its "15% or 28% depending ...

Re: Shallow Gold
Someone ought to produce a matrix showing under what situations and tax brackets is the optimal approach. For example, if you're in the 10% bracket, it seems far better to sell after holding no greater than 365 days than pay a 15% collectibles tax. That would apply to both bullion and these CEFs....

Re: My Argument To Never Pay Down Home Mortgage
What if you could qualify for one of those super-low-rate loans that rich people sometimes get? I want to say Zuckerberg's mortgage interest rate is 1%. Probably he's agreed to keep some amount of money with the bank. We keep 25% in cash anyway. I wonder how much cash it would take on deposit in ...

MG didn't say "It's realistic for the PP to have a drawdown of 25%", he said that it had in fact suffered such a drawdown, and then when anybody asked him when, why, or how, that person was berated mercilessly. MG said that the numbers were readily available, at least one time he even pos...

Most likely, they're using it to go through their logs. They might be able to use that to see exactly what happened to cause whatever problem you were reporting.
A public IP address is not really a secret; you necessarily send it to every site you visit.

Re: Draw-up
There's only a maximum drawdown because the value of the (theoretical) PP is higher than it started.
Since that's the case, the "maximum drawup" is exactly the amount of the gain from its lowest point (very likely, its starting point).

If I can throw in my two cents here: I agree with Ad O that Scripture is a product of the church's tradition. I would say that it's the crown jewel of the church's tradition, and certainly divinely inspired. And I don't think the true meaning is necessarily self-evident, and CERTAINLY no individua...

Does that mean a certain young whippersnapper dickhead known as LC475 that publically attacked and disrespected me personally and still hasn't apologized for it, was right in his speculative conjecture? No, there's nothing wrong with the T-Bond data which is not a synthetic derivation from 20-year...
