Re: Algorithmic trading
Man, stressful enough being at a job selling electronic products that have firmware bugs we have to fix. I don't know how involved these financial algorithms get but I assume you'll be able to do this in a paper account for a while just in case there's a if/then that sends you in a direction you di...

Re: Yay PP!
Sure. I need to recalculate everything. The reason I say GB ish is that I converted a retirement into a GB. Like apart of the stock allocation is a portion of the Account that is a Roth. It has tech mutual fund in it. I did not sell that but count it as a stock. Anyway I’ll throw it out in a bit. Al...

My GB (ish) portfolio is down 1.7 percent vs ~11 percent for VTI in the last month. So thank you Harry Browne and Tyler.

Re: Algorithmic trading
Thanks that’s very helpful. It would be with zero leverage with a large cash reserve. So the most I could lose is what was at risk which would not be much to start.

Re: Yay PP!
Well that was an interesting last few pages to read through! If you've seen my other post on writing calls, I have grown a bit tired of being passive about my investments. I figure I am 2-10 years away from retirement, and now is the time to see if I can wrangle some consistent added income out of ...

Algorithmic trading
Has anyone ever tried using your own algorithm trading? I have an idea that I want to try. If anyone knows a company that allows you to do this let me know and I would also want to the ability to make fake trades to test out the algorithm. And last thing - it could be a lot of trades - like 100 to a...

Re: Yay PP!
If people are concerned about maintaining a clean, well-lit place to educate others about the PP, perhaps there should be a separate Permanent Portfolio Skepticism forum. with lots of 'expertise' being shared with an admittance that the person has no intention of tracking the performance of their '...

Re: Best Cash Back Credit Card
I would definitely do Alliant but I don’t want to open another bank account especially with a direct deposit requirement. Also I wish these cards did not say 6%…up to some dollar number. I would do the Costco card but it has too many caveats (at least for me). I wish I had the capacity to keep up wi...

Next up on the planned crisis list
Wow thats click baity? Straight from the heart of Davos - Ukraine, Climate change, Cyber warfare... I was a lefty, morphing into a libertarian (still left leaning), now a libertarian (right leaning). I've never done it before but in the absence of a very wise heavily right leaning democrat, I'm like...

It back tested to within spitting distance of the pp without gbtc and that was through a time that was ripe for the pp with low rates and falling inflation .. Now it will be interesting to watch it going forward under the opposite conditions I bet a GB with BITCOIN outperforms. Well track it going ...

11 percent drop during the 2020 crash. From 24144 to 21481. Thats good.
Modifying the post a bit. I removed GBTC and this seems to basically track a GB portfolio

If he had this info, and disclosed it on this forum, everyone would realize him as the charlatan that he is. I don’t think he’s a charlatan at all. Re: Yay PP!
As folks can see I am trying to find the signal in the noise. I’ve gotten two solid pieces of info. One was the portfolio break down and the other was list of the funds used (at one point in time). What I don’t know is what were MJ’s allocation in percentages (of the (26.4%). Apologies in advance - ...

No idea …All I can tell you is what the individual models show since I only do a year end balance comparison AFTER OUR YEARLY SPENDING.
