Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?
I like Mayor Pete. Most well spoken one of the bunch. And a military vet. I'd be interested to see the response across America to a president who is gay and a veteran. I suppose some heads will explode. I suspect Mayor Pete and his husband would be well-received in Europe and may even win the Nobel...

Re: Rethinking the Permanent Portfolio
Maxine Waters is worried about the "national security" issues of cryptocurrencies and thinks congress should start taking a look (translation: they are worried they can't control it and/or get their hands on it). She may be a fruitcake but she's also the chairman of the house finance commi...

Re: The GOLD scream room
Almost 6.5 years since gold has been at this level. March 2014. Wow. Hope it holds. About freaking time. Original ETF gold I bought (IAU) just went from red to green for the first time in a long time. Physical gold, unfortunately, is still a bit underwater as some of the first ones I bought were fo...

Re: Tankers attacked
Well I guess I finally found out what was meant by "American Linked". https://fabiusmaximus.com/2019/06/15/craig-murray-the-lies-about-iran/ According to this article the second ship was Norwegian with a crew half Russian and half Filipino. The first one was Japanese. So the American conne...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?
Wishing DJT a belated happy birthday. Just heard he turned 73 yesterday. I turned 70 4 days before and can't even imagine taking on the challenges he is faced with at that age. He's got Iran, North Korea, Russia, China, the border crisis, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, not to mention a significant nu...

Re: 3 years of PP returns
I am now more than a decade into using the PP and am satisfied with the results (although I did switch to the Golden Butterfly a few years ago). It actually saw me through to my retirement and helped me meet my goals during that time so it's kind of like my old Dodge Caravan which I bought right aro...

Re: Tankers attacked
Reports say it was an "American-linked" tanker. What the hell does that mean? Funny thing is I thought this would be all over the T.V. news when I tuned in and I couldn't find a thing. I guess there are more important things to talk about ... https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/06/on-paint...

Yes, I turned 70 two days ago (and get my first SS check next month). And for the record I'm a kick-ass 70 year old. Celebrated by doing a 200 mile bike ride with my son (actually it was originally supposed to be a 400 mile ride but still not too bad). Badass! What’s your secret? Discipline, or jus...

Disgusting, but absolutely expected. ::) I'm thinking wealthy people might start thinking twice before agreeing to be a college commencement speaker. Because of an "Instagram user?" Come on guys you're really reaching now. In other recent news, democrats ridiculed on Twitter for breathing...

Seems to me an ideal time for the PP to do well.
I don't know about the rest of you but I think I had my biggest one day gain ever today. Told my wife if we could do this every day it would be better than winning the lottery.

Re: FWOMX
I went to business school *not recently* and in the 1980s we were reading case histories that argued that companies that did not engage all of their employees fully performed worse. Why is that hard to believe? And why does it bother you? If I have a V8 engine, I need all eight to fire when needed....

Not sure I can articulate why but something tells me this is a very dumb idea.....

Re: Stock scream room
Too bad Budd's not here any more. He always got upset when the PP didn't immediately perform as expected in the short term so today he might have been happy. With stocks taking a big hit I think my SEP-IRA which is mostly LTT's and gold might have had its biggest one day gain ever. So will this be a...

Re: Immediate 5% across-the-board Mexican tariffs
I hear the president of Mexico, or at least some high ranking official, is on his way to the White House for talks as we speak. Which was kind of the point, I think. Very strange situation when Trump can't get any help from congress to deal with the border situation and has to resort to putting econ...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?
Some of that list is just noise. The ordinary ups and downs of business. Brick and mortal retail is in trouble, has been since before the not so great depression we just experienced, and that is not going to change. But some of it should be cause for concern. The level of debt at every level of soc...

What a horrible thing to do to your child to volunteer to cheat for them to get into college. They will question the validity of their every accomplishment for the rest of their lives. That's an exercise in soul killing. It's not TOEFL Recall, it's DOFU Recall (DOFU = TOFU) http://www.pbs.org/food/...

Re: Tax accounting for physical metals
I don’t need tax advice. I know how to calculate the taxes on each transaction. What I need is an inventory program to keep track of the basis for each lot of each item, e. g. I have 3 lots of 100g bars with 2 bars in the first lot, 4 bars in the second, and 3 bars in the third. The basis is $1800 ...
