Re: A place to talk about random things....
I just ripped up a few more beds out of my yard to plant potatoes and radish. I used some compost that's been aging for a couple years on it, hoping that helps. I've also found that branches can last years in the compost bin pretty well, so maybe I'll stop being lazy and cut up branches from now on...

Re: Dawg Pound
Hey Vinny, do you believe in dog? (I thought perhaps you are dyslexic.) ;) Whatever gave you the impression that I am dyslexic? I'm many things but never that. I would never have been able to achieve a reading speed of 900 words a minute when I was 18 years old if that were the case. Vinny Vinny, i...

But that's just an argument for constantly rebalancing. If you want to constantly rebalance, then go for it. I believe in the rebalancing bands, and so I don't want my contributions to have any effect on when and whether I rebalance. Xan, From reading the above (plus what you wrote prior in this ...

Re: A place to talk about random things....
That's kind of what the daily checkin is about, but this works too. I snuck out of the house and away from my laptop this AM to go visit my community garden plot. Whacking out weeds and preparing soil was SO good for the soul, and it's kind of nice to do it in a communal setting with other gardener...

That's fat, spoiled indoor cats. Feral cats have to get their own food so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't pass up a nice, juicy rat. We could use a few more predators around here, come to think of it, but there are too many cat rescue enthusiasts here. https://wildlife.org/rats-feral-cats-fail-at-urb...

Whatever. Some Domestic/urban ones may have lost their touch but not feral cats. I've seem them at work in public gardens, and: Cats are no strangers to killing rats. Their work as vermin exterminators helped them to sail the seven seas, eliminating rats on ships as far back as 9,000 years ago. Cen...

Or perhaps a few vocal ones. Not kriegs, not Xan. Not Pugchief(?) Kriegs, send me your feral cats. There was no frost this year and now my entire neighborhood has mice in their backyards. The other day, I was talking with a neighbor about how much I wish I had a silenced .22. He said they were a lo...

So far it looks like a barbell! Or, some sort of modified Permanent Portfolio in terms of the percentage breakdowns.

Re: Extrovert or Introvert?
I thought I'd many times described myself here as a Super Extreme Introvert. In the last five weeks there has only been one out of those 35 days that I've been in the presence of a human being (Oh, I have to amend to now two days based upon that 5 minute interaction I had with a neighbor last week)...

Re: Extrovert or Introvert?
Indeed, it would be cool to see who chose what if they're comfortable sharing. I chose mild introvert. I'd rather watch cool youtube videos abut math than go to a club, but I could be convinced. I love going to live music and being at a music festival surrounded by people for 3 full days on end. Bu...

Re: Extrovert or Introvert?
I think you should have added some short definitions/examples for the various levels of introvert <--> extrovert. And I think you went pretty extreme with the number of levels you're offering. :) I was leaving it up to each to define what he or she believes each category means and, therefore, where...

Thanks for doing that, Xan! Vinny et al.: I'm also an introvert, and "thinking on my feet" has always been a distinct weakness of mine. It can sometimes make meetings and phone calls a bit frustrating. I'm much better suited for asynchronous communication like email where I can be more de...
