Re: Portfolio Charts

And it is historically unprecendented for the PP to have a losing year, a winning year and a losing year in a row.  That is out of sample behavior so that is a warning that old operating assumptions may fall apart. And if it goes losing, winning, losing, winning, you all better head for the hills!

yeah...and the bar scene. Oh yeah, forgot about that! It's crazy when you stop to consider that this all happened, more or less. I hate to burst your bubble, Jack, but it is most assuredly *not* based on a true story. That part is just a joke. They got away with it when the movie came out because n...

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

As expected, Listerine and Crest Pro-Health demonstrated complete kill on all bacteria exposed within one minute. Breath Rx exhibited the weakest levels of bactericidal effects overall. CloSYS and chlorhexidine rinses proved identical 100% kills against the periodontal pathogens at five minutes; in...

I'm a Debian Stable guy. Now that I think of it, it's sort of like the PP of Linux distros.

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

I gave this a try for a few months, and tried continuing w/out the Closys because it's so damn expensive. I've found that I can't live w/out the Closys now. :(

Is there a generic version of Closys?

Re: The Minimum Wage in America is Pretty Damn Low

The thing that really galls me about the low wages here is that the workers are often on government benefits, so in effect the government is subsidizing Wal-Mart, McDonalds, etc. I am sure the corporate managers like it exactly that way. It's welfare on two levels, to the workers and to corporation...

Re: How to Fix the Flawed Tilt with the PP's Equity Component

If one only had access to an SP500 fund and a small cap index fund, what's the best you could do? 50/50 in each? For the two funds I'm interested in (VSCPX and FXAIX) a 50/50 split would result in: Market Capitalization Size    % of Portfolio Mega    25.8% Large    18.2% Mid    25.3% Small    25.3%...
