Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I’d rather be posting the link below it, “Handicapped Pupper Zooms to a Snack”, but this is Pandemic Freakout at Asians https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/g527a4/coronavirus_freakout_on_asian_people/ Wow that homeless lady really doesn't like Asians. Was that a craft beer in her hand?...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

I’ve seen headlines about polls showing that people are afraid of restrictions being lifted too soon. To me, it sounds as if they prefer what I call Lockdown Socialism. Under Lockdown Socialism: –you can stay in your residence, but paying rent or paying your mortgage is optional. –you can obtain gr...

Hardcore Democrats can be willing to do some pretty remarkable things for their leaders: In 1998, Nina Burleigh, Time magazine's former White House correspondent, put it as succinctly as anyone ever has as she defended Bill Clinton from charges of sexual harassment. "I would be happy to give hi...

To be honest, I sort of... underestimated my level of degeneracy. I'm down to Jägermeister, Wild Turkey, and blackberry schnapps. The schnapps is mighty tasty with iced tea.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Dwindling supplies of carbon dioxide from ethanol plants is sparking concern about shortages of beer,. . . The lack of ethanol output is disrupting this highly specialized corner of the food industry, as 34 of the 45 U.S. ethanol plants that sell CO2 have idled or cut production, said Renewable Fue...

Re: A place to talk about random things....

It snowed here recently. I have some lettuce seeds growing in pots outside that I didn't bother moving indoors; didn't seem to affect them, but time will tell. I'm pretty hands-off with my plants.

I just cancelled earlier this week (and just re-upped for $1 moments ago), I think they offered to let me do $15/month when I was cancelling.

I think we're in a Darwinian selection event for: Introvert - Extrovert Patient - Impatient Can work from home - Must work in public spaces Financially independent - Must work Healthy and younger - Older and sicker --------------- well, but older people and sicker people are past reproductive age.....

I broke down and subscribed to the WSJ, and I must say it is refreshing to read articles with actual news and information.... Every so often, the WSJ has a $1/mo promo that lasts for a month or two (it appears they have one going right now). I pick those up then cancel at the end. Every time, they ...

I think I was talking about the fart defense . You know, pulling your shirt up over your face. But I say a lot of things... ahhhh, right. You weren’t as intoxicated as I thought. Or if you were, you were almost thinking straight. 😂 I thought it was a kind of defense by offense. 😂 I'm very good at b...

I'm also thinking about elderberry along one edge of my property. I like that it grows 6-8 ft high, I like the idea of an edible screen.

I think some of those would be fine. I've used High Mowing (Vermont) before, this is what they have to say: Colder temperatures (26-31F) may burn the foliage of, but will not kill, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, chard, lettuce, mustard, onion, radish, beets and leeks. In fact, some of these crops, ...

I already have blueberries, rhubarb, snow peas, garlic, onions, and lettuce going. What type of Blueberries do you have and are they easy to grow? i have look at Blueberry plants at Lowes but have not decided yet. I would like to try Elderberry if anyone has had success growing it. Re: A place to talk about random things....

I just ripped up a few more beds out of my yard to plant potatoes and radish. I used some compost that's been aging for a couple years on it, hoping that helps. I've also found that branches can last years in the compost bin pretty well, so maybe I'll stop being lazy and cut up branches from now on...
