I also like the black patches on the backs of her forepaws, like a 70s college professor’s blazer.
Hahaha they're so great. She has these random spots and imperfections in her "tuxedo" that are very endearing in my eyes. ^-^ ^-^ ^-^

Yup. Totally. Although I haven't admonished or scolded her in the least. She's feeling foolish and regretful enough already, so I definitely won't pile on.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Costco pastries (cheese garlic buns mmmmm), and am sipping coffee as I write this. Do tell. That sounds more like an appetizer or meal than something you would eat with morning coffee.... They're SO GOOD. I heat them in the microwave for like 30 seconds and the cheese gets all melty. Between that a...

Falling Victim to a $10,000 Bitcoin Scam

It happens to the best of us I suppose. I have a friend, we'll call her Jane, who is actually quite keen and smart. She's one of my coworkers and is a terrific manager. Unfortunately, she does not a have a background in finance, and is not particularly tech savvy. This has recently ended up being a ...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Hola amigos! Looks like today is another positive day for the markets. Capital markets are the best predictors of the future that I know of. So, perhaps the economic fallout from the Coronavirus isn't as bad we may have surmised. I prefer to think of this as a dead cat bounce though. I got up extra ...

Re: Data on Re-balancing Bands for Taxable vs Non-Taxable Accounts?

I believe that a substantial amount of research was done on this topic in the original epic PP thread over at the Knuckleheads forum. Do a search there and you'll probably find some useful stuff? But yeah, your overall assertion that the larger rebalancing bands are more tax efficient is correct.

Re: The tech-dumbell portfolio

Oh man, my hands are itching to 'optimize' that chart by adding some stocks and/or bonds 8) Not doing it! And some long bonds. ;D But yeah, I'm surprised that the backtest looks as good as it does. Those short treasury bonds really picked up the slack in the 1981 to 2000 bear market for gold.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Stocks rebounding? I'm thinking this is a dead cat bounce of some kind, but it's hard to know for sure.

The market seems to be pricing in a best case scenario in terms of the overall economic fallout of this pandemic.

Re: Is it OK to tinker with the PP asset category percentages?

Above all else, think independently. O0 If you think that Browne was wrong or his ideas can be improved upon, don't hesitate to make modifications. Trust your own judgement. I, for instance, think that Craig and Tex were wrong to shun factor tilting in the PP. I still think this way. Having said tha...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Good morning, all!! I am sadly out of pastries, so something else will have to do as part of my breakfast this morning. I got just about everything I wanted done on yesterday's list except for working out and watching the movie. At least one of those things is something enjoyable that I can catch up...

Exactly!! Or, another character comes to mind. Nicholai, from Resident Evil 3. He runs around with nothing but a pistol with ONE CLIP and a friggin' knife but somehow always manages to get the highest scores in mercenary mode. I like the Libertarian666 portfolio because it's so... novel. O0 This is ...

Libertarian666's portfolio, with its zero stock allocation, reminds me of the old martial arts master that beats the big villain with just his fists -- no weapons at all.

Jim Rickards is looking smug in his latest Hedgeye interview. A lot of what he predicted, including a lack of supply of physical gold (and the associated spread with digital gold), has come to pass.

Re: Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories

There is no hard evidence, it's just observation/speculation at this point. Osterholm was speculating too. My sister's belief is based on her direct clinical experience with this virus. She's never seen anything like it. She describes it as too new, and too perfect. So suspicion only, but I'm now t...

Re: Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories

I was reading some info about the coronavirus, to catch up on the latest. My sister (the ER doc) is reading too, and she says she thinks the virus was somehow engineered (and she's otherwise strongly inclined to be politically liberal). It's too perfect. The affinity for ACE receptors is unpreceden...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

During our Chipotle expedition yesterday we went by the mall.

Holy crap, like nothing I've seen before. Eerily empty roads, sidewalks, and buildings.

Apocalypse definitely imminent.
