Re: Bitcoin and Taxes
Totally forgot to report a 2021 purchase I made with bitcoin given to me by Marc on this site once upon a time. Oops. I don't do my own taxes, but I happened to see it on the extra copy of my completed tax return. "Virtual currency." Oops. I'll need to fix that. I wish that I had your pro...

It feels like 2008 Again Only Worse
With skyrocketing fuel prices and an economy in deep stress, this is starting to remind me of 2008, with differences, of course. This should be where the PP earns it's keep. What do you think?

Re: Bank Bonuses
Big yawn until they start giving out Sony Trinitons again. I must be older than you are. Until inflation set in during the late 1960s, I recall that toasters and coffee pots were the "free" bank giveaway of choice. My folks got a Sony Trinitron TV from Crossland Savings Bank. It was very ...

Yeah, my IAU is in a retirement account. That's why I hadn't noticed it before. And my PHYS is PHYS so this doesn't apply.

My Tax Forms and GLDM
I own GLDM and just received my tax forms for 2021. Under "Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions" GLDM is giving off some kind of "Undetermined Term Transactions for Noncovered Tax Lots." They are listed as "Principal payments." I'm guessing that I have ...

Re: Are The Gold Miners A More Tax Friendly Investment?
mining stocks are so unpredictable. You could have a great mine that's functioning well and then the gov't slaps on some environmental taxes. Or you could have a junk mine that's lying about potential reserves. It's all a big mess and in no way an alternative to owning gold. The miners are one of t...

Question. When someone requests to have themselves removed .... I know that removes any posts that they originate. However, I'm assuming that any replies that they made to someone else's original posts would still remain? Clive was actively deleting his own posts even before he thought of leaving (...

Unless it's a retirement account, the tax repercussions of a move like this are huge. I don't invest this way.murphy_p_t wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 6:38 pm Or better yet, sell 50% of s&p and go into precious metal miners with the proceeds

Re: Freedom Convoy ‘22/ Canada Trucker Protest
False flags are what leftists do. No Antifa at 1/6? Ever hear of John Sullivan? Why hasn't Ray Epps been arrested? Why is Pelosi concealing so many of the videos? Why did she and the D.C. Mayor refuse 10K National Guardsmen? Why aren't Republicans allowed to select their own members for the 1/6 Comm...

Are The Gold Miners A More Tax Friendly Investment?
With gold etfs and gold itself being taxed at the collectibles rate, is investing in the miners aka GDX or GDXJ a more investment friendly investment? They're taxed at the regular stock rates, which are considerably lower.

Forum entropy naturally increases over time. Conspiracy trolls can easily overwhelm the conversations here. Some self restraint and human decency would go a long way in keeping this a reasonable forum. When folks prove repeatedly that they're unwilling to honestly discuss a topic, I fully support X...

It's saddens me that the authorities spread panic and pseudoscience... Which has been so effective at instilling fear. Spreading panic and pseudoscience? What do you think you're doing when you make outlandish claims about vaccines? Just as a fer'instance, that they are designed to commit genocide ...
