Re: The GOLD scream room
Great, me too. Where was gold though? Notice I don’t quibble about treasuries. Gold surged a little later, into late summer. Did it ever surge right away? It is uncorrelated asset. Whatever is happening right now just need to remember that the printing press is red hot ... all those stimulus money....

2M in Au would correspond to about 8M in PP... or 320k a year at 4% withdrawal rate. LOL, no need to talk there but enjoy life :-)buddtholomew wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:57 amWhen you have 2M in piece of shit gold then we can talk.

Yeah! I noticed +100% premarket and thought it was a glitch.flyingpylon wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 6:47 am Just a heads-up for anyone with some IAU. They did a 1-for-2 reverse split effective 5/24/2021.
So, what that split means for us holders?

Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
Has anybody here researched or gamed out the regulatory risks to BTC or all cryptocurrencies for that matter? By this I mean, what might happen if the US government, or a coalition of governments take the position that crypto is a destabilizing threat. This could happen in the context of another fi...

Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
If Bitcoin is banned it will be hard to sell bitcoin, that is clear. Folks investing in bitcoin should be prepared for such an event. It is nice to return your money before it happens. E.g. if it doubles just sell the half. And let the rest be (or keep selling the half when it doubles). No risk to ...

Re: LTT and SP500 funds at Fidelity?
Fxaix is an excellent SP500 fund. Personally I’d stay away from total market funds. They have a ton of crap companies in them. If someone wants to add mid and/or small cap buy a fund that is based on the sp400 and/or sp600. Head on over to portfolio visualizer and run Russell vs. S&P index fund...

Re: LTT and SP500 funds at Fidelity?
Thank you for your reply Bonds are great to buy on Fidelity, but if you ever want to sell them without having to spend an hour or two on the phone, make sure to buy in lots of at least $10,000 (Face value). Also, having part of your bond allocation in FNGBX (mutual fund) gives you a nice mix of puri...

Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
I still don't believe in it but my very small slice of gbtc is up 30% since I bought it last week. Yes, finally GBTC is doing better after the premium sunk. At what price you are planning to start selling it? I will probably sell half if it doubles. Every day has been up day since I had it. Sure fe...

LTT and SP500 funds at Fidelity?
Hello fellow PPs, Could you please help me with choosing possibly better funds for PP? Currently, my Fidelity brokerage mostly has SHY and IAU, while Fidelity IRA has TLT and IVV. For fresh money addition to both Fidelity Brokerage and Fidelity IRA accounts: 1) Is there better alternative to TLT? An...

Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
GBTC is currently at negative premium, about -8%. So "could" be a good time to buy. Or the days of 20,30,40% premium are over and end of an era. I bought it right before it lost fat premium. Now it keeps eroding. How it could be 40.5 when BTC is at 48k ? Arrrh :-( As long as GBTC and Gray...

I just don't want to put money into something that they're going to quash. And there is a good chance they will. If they cannot control it they destroy it... or at least try. Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
I’ve read some studies showing a 1% allocation to Bitcoin and 99% to cash has had crazy good returns with great sharpe ratios. 90% bitcoin and 10% cash is better :-) I decided to stick to 80%/10% works OK so far. Rebalanced at 54k recently, the next one should be at112k It is important to be conser...

Re: Bitcoin as a complement or alternative to gold in the PP
That's pretty humble for BTC. From recent trough at $3200 to recent high at $58000 or so it was about 1800%
And $58k most likely not the limit. After reaching the max it will crash again loosing 70-80%.
