top limit for your INVESTMENTS

Hello I now understand more about PP and your minds, which i agree. What is for you, the limit of money that you want to reach in a PP or overall in savings. This means, when will you start to put money in other stuff a part from investments. Saving for investment has no limit? Let me know your aims...

Re: Buying real GOLD

Hi, I think you are right. Just puting all the saving is a PP, that has fluctuation, is VERY difficult. Going all CD's to PP+VP+CD it is hard for my mind, but I think I will do like that. Even in the broker applied in Assets, the money is not safe? Thank you!!! Hello, After so many years saving only...

Re: Real ASSETS

Frugal, are you able to buy gold coins (Austrian Philharmonic, American Eagle, Canadian Maple Leaf, etc.) at Portuguese banks? Hi, I'll check what they sell. What do you recommend? I'm not very happy to buy over internet and pay before seeing the gold. :-\ If I lived in Portugal, based on my curren...

Re: Real ASSETS

k9, fantastic explanations! a) Well, Portugal ever had higher yields than richer countries, we are used to it. Now we are being helped by IMF and BCE.     In this case the cash should be where? ALL in a foreign country, is it safe? b) You all PP lovers, make 80-90% allocation in US-PP of your total ...

Re: ALL my savings in ETF's is dangerous

Here's what I meant.  ETF - Fund Provider VTI - Vanguard TLT - iShares SGOL - ETFS SCHO - Schwab That's 4 asset classes managed by 4 separate companies. Yes, an ETF has more risk than directly holding the assets but by dividing your money across multiple ETF providers you help minimize your exposur...

Re: Real ASSETS

The problem in the text you quoted is that you now converted it back to a purely financial portfolio (stocks + REITs + bonds) :) As for 4% CDs : the problem is that CDs are not the safest asset ; they are a (relatively low) risk bond between you and the bank. In a tight-money recession, if the bank...

I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about commercial websites here, so moderators please warn me if what I'm doing is wrong, but coininvestdirect (google will give you their precise url) sells bullion coins in Europe at rather good prices (20 francs Vreneli : buy 254, sell 269, + shipping of course...

If I'm not mistaken you are European.  I believe that many ETF's in Europe are synthetically constructed, which is important to consider as these would be much more dangerous, IMO.

Good stuff. I like TDAmeritrade because of their wide assortment of PP-friendly commission-free ETFs (VTI, IVV, TLT, EDV, SHY). They charge $10 for other trades, though. eTrade is nice too because through then you can trade PERM commission-free. Hi, when you trade PP funds instead of each asset ind...

Hello, 1st - GOLD and BONDS directly is perfect. Unfortunately for the EU-PP I don't think I can. 2nd - what do you think about opening an account in INTERACTIVE BROKERS for the VARIABLE Portfolio ? Do you think it is safe for a foreign citizen? If any problem exists (broker banrupcy or State proble...
