Seems to me an ideal time for the PP to do well.
I don't know about the rest of you but I think I had my biggest one day gain ever today. Told my wife if we could do this every day it would be better than winning the lottery.

Re: FWOMX
I went to business school *not recently* and in the 1980s we were reading case histories that argued that companies that did not engage all of their employees fully performed worse. Why is that hard to believe? And why does it bother you? If I have a V8 engine, I need all eight to fire when needed....
FWOMX
Not sure I can articulate why but something tells me this is a very dumb idea.....

Too bad Budd's not here any more. He always got upset when the PP didn't immediately perform as expected in the short term so today he might have been happy. With stocks taking a big hit I think my SEP-IRA which is mostly LTT's and gold might have had its biggest one day gain ever. So will this be a...

Re: Immediate 5% across-the-board Mexican tariffs
I hear the president of Mexico, or at least some high ranking official, is on his way to the White House for talks as we speak. Which was kind of the point, I think. Very strange situation when Trump can't get any help from congress to deal with the border situation and has to resort to putting econ...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?
Some of that list is just noise. The ordinary ups and downs of business. Brick and mortal retail is in trouble, has been since before the not so great depression we just experienced, and that is not going to change. But some of it should be cause for concern. The level of debt at every level of soc...

What a horrible thing to do to your child to volunteer to cheat for them to get into college. They will question the validity of their every accomplishment for the rest of their lives. That's an exercise in soul killing. It's not TOEFL Recall, it's DOFU Recall (DOFU = TOFU) http://www.pbs.org/food/...

Re: Tax accounting for physical metals
I don’t need tax advice. I know how to calculate the taxes on each transaction. What I need is an inventory program to keep track of the basis for each lot of each item, e. g. I have 3 lots of 100g bars with 2 bars in the first lot, 4 bars in the second, and 3 bars in the third. The basis is $1800 ...

So this is a headache for me to think about... which is why I asked my church if they would someday accept appreciated PMs, they said yes they would. I plan to give my physical metals to my kids and my church and I don't think I will have tax issues. My kids will get the step-up in basis upon my de...

I don't want to sound sacrilegious during holy week but I can't help but think of Stephen's speech in the book of Acts where he said "The Most High does not live in temple's made by human hands".
This got him stoned to death.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in court if he is ever extradited to the United States. I tend to think that won't happen however. The reason I think he will never stand trial in the U.S. is because the powers that be will not want all the dirty laundry aired in court and also ...

I saw recently that in the wake of a minimum wage increase in NYC to $15, restaurant workers employment went down, and managers said they were planning on laying off more people (going to automated service ilke San Fran and McDonald's I guess?). They have already gone down this road in Australia an...

"Error. Page cannot be displayed" messages are pretty common. In this case it sounds like somebody tacked on the part about contacting your service provider as a way of disclaiming responsibility. I'm pretty sure that would be pointless. They are just going to tell you the same thing Xan s...

Re: Best way to budget for mortgage payment?
I don't know why you wouldn't include the mortgage payment as part of your annual budgeting. What you say about it when comparing it with other expenses like vacations may be true but it's also true that unlike those expenses it isn't discretionary. It will remain a fixed part of your budget for as ...

18% is nice. What was the inflation rate? Don't remember exactly but I know a lot of people thought the world was coming to an end at the time. The case for 100% cash is a lot stronger than 100% Gold or Stocks IMO. 100% stocks could easily lose you 50% in a year and make take many, many years to recover. Cash will not ever do that to you unless you are talking about runaway inflation. Correct me if I am wrong on that. When I say I think ab...

What do we do when Jesus refuses to do the miracles we want - when He won't speak - when we are face to face with a silent God? I never had either of these problems when I was a Christian. You learn early on that Jesus doesn't do miracles today like he did back then. As for God being silent I never...
