Re: GOP fears Trump attacks on mail in voting will discourage their own voters

@Kbg, I just skimmed the links you provided. The gist seems to be that the number of detected cases of mail-in ballot fraud is relatively small, and you seem to be asserting that we can therefore conclude that it's not much of a problem. However, do we know what fraction of actual cases of mail-in ...

Re: The Key to Defeating COVID-19 Already Exists. We Need to Start Using It | Opinion

Does anyone have a non-biased view/summary of the studies thus far conducted. I tried to educate myself on hydroxychloroquine and just couldn't come to a conclusion. Like everything with COVID the majority of reviews seemed to be from folks with a clear bias to see the evidence one way or another. I...

Re: GOP fears Trump attacks on mail in voting will discourage their own voters

My understanding is that mail-in ballots that are specifically requested by certain voters are not the big fraud risk. The big fraud risk comes when everyone is sent a mail-in ballot by default, meaning many ballots will end up at incorrect addresses, homes of deceased people, people who don’t usua...

Re: GOP fears Trump attacks on mail in voting will discourage their own voters

In theory, all ballots mailed in should be checked against voter registration information as is the case with live voting. I just don't get his argument. And if the basic argument (not stated) is let's make it harder to vote because younger/poorer people won't vote then it's a poor and deeply cynica...

Re: Knuckleheads PP thread resurrected

Bernstein should have been telling his audience that financial success means not running with the herd. Actually, running with the heard is a pretty good investment strategy in aggregate. One cannot simultaneously believe in cap-weighted index funds and not believe in running with the heard. It's i...

Re: BelangP - Retirement Planning

I don't know any serious investing technique that doesn't use some type of quantitative analysis. The analysis he demonstrated noted a couple of things. Non-correlation of stocks and (strike though original "bonds" replace with) "gold" and that they tend to run counter to each ot...

Re: Just for Fun - The Golden Middle

I think a TQQQ and SAA mix would be an excellent LT choice. The only reason I don’t do it is because I think we are in a multi decade secular tech environment but I may do it anyway if/when small cap shows some signs of life comparatively to NDX.

Re: Just for Fun - The Golden Middle

Not that I’m aware of. I wish there was one. SAA which is a 2x is the only one I’m aware of. I’m OK 1.5 multiplying a 2x if the allocation isn’t too large. I switched to DGP from UGLD. I’ve also been using the MGC and MNQ micro futures as an experiment in one account. It’s kind of a hassle though co...

It's an exclusive list! O0 But you don't have to be on a list to have good ideas.

But Tyler I go to the top of YOUR algorithm...come ON, do I have to write a book? >:D

Speaking of commercialization...for the oldest small cap etf funds from Ishares...IWM beats both growth and value ETFs for the Russell 2K, while IJT SP600 value beats growth and blend options.

Lucky us, we have an ETF(s) for that concentration concern. Equal weighting, different market cap, factor weighting, all kinds of flavors. The closest to vanilla is RSP.

Not sure where you say PV doesn’t have mid-cap, they do and it beats the GB in return but not sharpe...statistically, pretty much a draw. To gauge performance one should find out when SCV funds started and start your backtest then. A good backtesting technique for actually trading something is to f...

Re: Just for Fun - The Golden Middle

Then again, I think somebody once said that if there isn't one asset class you don't like at any particular time there is something wrong with your portfolio so I guess I should be thankful for SCV. This isn't really the point or none of us would invest in the PP where there's always something to h...

Just for Fun - The Golden Middle

I've never really liked the Golden Butterfly because I'm a big non-believer in SCV. However, I do like the 40/20/20/20 allocation.

So without further adieu, I announce the Golden Middle...40 MCB and the rest you already know. It tops the charts if one puts it into the portfolio matrix.

A quick update...thus far another "I need to pinch myself" year...accounts doing this are all 25%+ on the year. Haven't decided yet, but I think I will probably ditch the futures. Too much of a hassle in a tax advantaged account. Another option may be to just keep the gold contract as the ...

Re: Golden Technology Portfolio

QQQ and a small cap index are a much better mix than QQQ and SPY. I think pairing QQQ and an S&P600 index fund is an excellent option. They do a good job of zig zagging with each other in terms of performance. A 50/50 QQQ/IJR portfolio beats a 100% allocation to either in every performance metri...
