Re: Bitcoin Costs More than Gold?
Bitcoin is at $1525 right now. I wish I could have doubled my money or more over the last year but I still don't understand it as an investment.

Re: is the retail bubble bursting?
if i had to guess i would say the retail property bubble formed at the same time as the housing bubble, it just never had the visibility or the crash/correction that the housing bubble had when it popped. the gradual economic trend toward on-line shopping directly impacts the commercial real estate...

"Get Out" movie
I don't catch up on movies so much anymore but had a rare chance to see Get Out.
It was a really good break from the movies of late that all feel the same.

Quite depressing but I can't say I can disagree.
Hopefully someone can advise us that medicine has improved by an order of magnitude.

Re: 3% APY for 7 year CDs
...but, what are you buying 7-year instruments for? Just curious. After all, the 30-year bonds are not bought for their yield. I understand this thought because of the possible capital gains (or loses) but I think I have come to disagree on ignoring the yield. The truth is that you are locking in t...

3% APY for 7 year CDs
I was surprised to see this high of a rate on 7 year CDs considering that is what the 30 year treasury is currently paying. https://www.andrewsfcu.org/personal/checking-and-savings/share-certificates.html If I am reading the website correctly, it looks like these can be bought within an IRA. This is...

Re: Jack Bogle: Putting Clients Second
The elephant in the room is that most people should not be invested in financial markets. I never thought about that. I don't think my grandparents every bought stocks. They did just fine on bank CDs and Treasury savings bonds. On further thoughts, does Dodd Frank prevent the banks from being able ...

Re: Everything costs too much and everybody is wrong about it and who the hell knows how to fix it?
After a little thought, is it as simple as debt payments being baked into the cost of those things? http://www.macrotrends.net/1381/debt-to-gdp-ratio-historical-chart I wonder if local governments and corporate debt would look similar. I wonder if it was as common historically as it is today for loc...

If you are in the Army and frugal with saving discipline. I would definitely rent.
The way buying would get you ahead is through leverage which is also risk.
I bought finally for family stability and feel like I paid a premium for it.

Seriously though I love how simple Chromebooks are. I am technical but work on computers all day so I just want the simplicity in my own time.
I haven't been able to see it in action but I think the less technical elderly would have a really hard time breaking them.

I don't see why they would sell longer duration bonds unless they really think interest rates are going back up. I would need some high rates like 6%+ to make me buy.

While I still have some LTTs , I am a heretic by only buying EE bonds in their place until we get back to 4%.

I love my chromebook and never use my Windows desktop except to print on my older USB printer.
Two things not so obvious.
You need a Google print capable printer to print.
4 GB over 2 GB will be much better.

A light went of in my head on how a Federal Reserve note and a Dollar are different from reading some of TennPennPa's link. A Federal Reserve note is the physical form of a reserve balance that is redeemable for a Dollar. When a Federal Reserve note goes into the world, the reserve balance of the ba...
