GUmby,
Thanks for the bone broth suggestion. Aside from the gut issues, it would be useful for anyone with joint problems, or anything thinking of taking any of the collagen preparations/derivatives for any reason. I was thinking of tracking down shark fin soup, but this is a better idea.

Re: What If Saturated Fats Are Essential?
Why not just mix up your own gelatin, collagen, proline, glucosamine, glutamine, etc. powder mix? Seems like it would be a heck of a lot more concentrated and cost effective. MG you are very knowledgeable and I agree with most of what you post (at least in areas where I know something e.g. nutriti...

1. "I like to fire people" was poorly worded and it should have been worded something like "I like to be able to fire people when they don't perform competently" or whatever wording like that you please. Would that have been out of touch? 2. "Understanding regular people&q...

He seemed to understand regular people last night more than he usually does. The child of one of Romney's colleagues while he was at Bain capital disappeared, and Romney closed down Bain and they all went to (?NY) to find the child. One does't get to be CEO of anything (presumably you have to st...

Even the press won't be able to cover up for him on this*.
On the plus side, he'll get more time for his golf game.

"Obama and Romney Tangle on Economy"

1. As MG mentioned that he took, glutamine is useful for leaky gut. It is fuel for the cells that line the intestines. 2. If you have the small bowel problems (mentioned in the low carb thread) flora i.e. probiotics i.e. good bacteria can be helpful, but PREBIOTICS e.g. inulin and FOS are not a go...

It seems to me to be a little early to be considering who to vote for. Really??? I am surprised that anyone who heard Obama speak to Joe the plummer 4 years ago needed to hear any more to see what he was about. In any case you've had 4 years of track record to judge him by. If Obama says he is wi...

There have been sleep studies where they put people in rooms isolated from any time clues or clues as to light/dark outside and I remember that many people have natural sleep/wake cycles that do not coincide to 24 hours i.e. their total of sleep+ wakefulness was more or less than 24 hours. I don't ...

Gumby,
Paleo aside, different colored fruits and veggies are widely considered beneficial. So eating a variety of e.g. berries is likely very good for you. OTOH I once heard of a fruitarian who eat 12 bananas per day which is probably a disaster given the amount of sugar.

MG, As far as quality of supplements, if you buy from reliable brands that use good manufacturing practices and test their products, quality is not an issue. For example (no commercial interest) Jarrow and Now brand make good products. Iherb.com has fairly good prices on numerous suplement companie...

I'm new enough at all this to not be sure of what that means in real world practical terms, but this could easily be used (not saying that most of you believe this) to say that Thatcher's comment: The problem with socialism is that you run out of other people's money doesn't apply to the US and we c...
