Re: Effect of Ray Dalio portfolio's popularity on PP?

Many of you may be aware of Ray Dalio's all weather portfolio.  30% Stocks, 15% Int.Bond, 40% LT Bond, 7.5% Gold, 7.5% Commodities. AWP is kinda sorta similar to PP (especially when you consider that PP assets can move away from their initial 25% allocation until next rebalance).  And similar to PP...

just as a FYI,  ameritrade has a pretty cool stock simulator in ThinkorSWIM.  the only catch is that you have to have a real money acccount to get real time quotes on paper trading.

Re: reallocation of bonds

i am thinking option 4.  hedge it out with some IEI.

i checked a some historical data Long term bonds, had years when you had 0 to slightly negative returns 4 years in a row.

reallocation of bonds

guys,

i was thinking of instead of holding 25% TLT,  switch to something more like 20%/5% TLT:IEI  or 15%/10%  TLT:IEI?

The rising interest rate fear has me worried.  first i am seeing gold drop... it would be difficult to see the bonds get wacked as well.

any insight will be helpful.

thanks

PP newbie question regarding cash

guys,

can you explain how cash hedges the PP portfolio.  I know if i buy shy, i can see the price  move  up and down throughout the year.

but how about if you keep it in a bank account?

Long bond allocation

hi guys,

is the cash and long bond allocation in the PP suppose to create an average duration of 10 years?

can someone explain to me how that works.

its really been hard to watch the my PP porfolio recently,  first gold gets hit, now i look and long bonds had a big drop.

thanks

Re: Oh how it hurts to see no gains

that kind of puts it in perspective for me. 7.2% isn't that bad for all the protection PP give you.  I figure were  closer to the end of this bull market so i rather have the protection that PP provides.

thanks for the link pointedstick.
