European Permanent Portfolio With A Twist!
I have been reading this forum almost daily for a year! I love the PP concept. The stocks, bonds, gold & cash, I like it all. :) Anyway... after a lot of thought and trial and error I have come up with this portfolio. I work/live in Belgium. Please be brutally honest in your assessment of it. Lo...

Here is a link for further information to euwax gold https://www.euwax-gold.de/ I was Googling Euwax gold and came back here! What a coincidence this thread was only started 2 days ago. Unfortunately I don't speak German but am curious as to why - from what I have found - Euwax Gold has a 0% Expens...

I went trough the book and was pretty disappointed. I would have expected it to be a lot better.
Here's a good review of it.

Re: EU-PP is still valid?
Tarentola. Interesting. Thanks! Frugal Would you please be so kind to repost the ETFs you use? I have browsed trough 14 pages of your post history/ did a Google search and came up empty. Not sure why you wouldn't quickly repost these here for your benefit as well as every other Euro PP investor brow...

Re: EU-PP is still valid?
Thanks for posting your results Tarentola! Good to hear the PP did well even in Europe. Sorry to hear your Portfolio didn't quite match Tarentola's Frugal. Again, please post all of ETFs you picked to comprise your PP. I have a wild idea of what might have went wrong. I assume it would be the bond p...

Re: EU-PP is still valid?
Frugal, what ETFs do you use? Can you list all 4 of them here?
It appears the European PP was down 3% in 2013. So it's up 8% this year?

Sucks to have started in a losing year. Assuming you have a PP for only 2 years.

Re: PP with a XIV Twist
What would prevent someone from rebalancing into oblivion (i.e. keep rebalancing into a losing asset over and over and for two or three years in a row it loses money) vis-a-vis a hypothetical XIV in 2007 and 2008? If you are retiring in 20 or 40 years and don't need the money, would it really be a ...

Put a small order in today just to observe how things will play out in real time.
Eventually went with the x2 setup.
So we'll see what happens next.

Re: 3x33% 3XPP Europe (Inspired by Wonk!)
@ Frugal. It's obviously easier to say then do ;) I don't have that much practice thinking that way anyway but I'll just have to assume this gamble is going to fail. That way when it happens I won't be disappointed that much. Try for the best but expect the worst. I'll just have to get used to it. @...

Re: 3x33% 3XPP Europe (Inspired by Wonk!)
1. No you can't lose more then you invested.
2. Where are you getting your numbers from?? Max drawdown for a standard PP was 5% or so I believe.
So, a x2 or x3 would have a max drawdown of 10% to 15% respectively.

Outrageous Bid/Ask Spread on TMF. Advice on New Pick.
Good thing I decided to double check TMF on multiple websites as I almost bought it based in the price given on investing.com which is completely wrong. Had a 20 cents difference there. Thanks for your suggestion Odysseusa. It won't work for me though. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I could be in the hook for a nice portion of dough. Second, reason, which is irrelevant really as I don't want any debt or chance at debt in the first place, this is a gamble with a smalle...

I decided to go with this. BGU 33% TMF 33% UGLD 33% Wanted to buy in tonight but figured I might as well ask for a some input before making the plunge. I went with this setup because it was very difficult to find good leveraged ETFs in Euro. Always a piece missing. In the end I decided to go with a ...

Thanks for your post AdamA I am planning on doing monthly updates.... Quick question though. I was going t...
